MK9 >>>>> MK10 >>>>>> MK11
MK9 was just an all around smooth ass game. I like that the characters didn't have these lame ass variations. They should have just stuck to the MK9 format. All the characters having an O.D amount of special moves because is what made the game hot. The grabbing and uppercutting in mk9 were smoother too. Mk11 grabs are janky, akward and easy to miss. The combos are a little janky too. Mk10 was cool but i dont like the way most of the characters look.
I do have a love hate relationship with the moves being changed and half the characters being changed for each MK. Like the shyt really pisses me off because i want to pick up the sticks and serve nikkas real quick but i have to relearn every goddamn thing but its dope because it cleans the slate for everyone unlike a Tekken or SF.
what MK should learn from Tekken is keep all the characters...yeah its a lot of characters but MK would be a lot better with everyone on the roster.
I get that changing the roster keeps the replay value of the old games but think about how dope that Freddy Vs Jason would have been if they carried over the characters.
I agree with most of this except I think MK11 is better than MKX. The stages and most of the designs in MKX were horrible. MK11 really feels like an MK game. MK9, to me was the best in the series. It really took the best of MK1-3 and crossed it over into the new generation.
The flaws of MK11 is:
- Roster; the MK9 roster should've returned with some of the 3D era characters added
- Story; several missed opportunities with Noob/Scorpion, Sub Zero/Noob, Dark Raiden, Cetrion, Shao Kahn
-Grinding; we shouldn't have to work that hard for simple color variations of the same skins. Story mode and the Krypt would've sufficed
I really agree with giving all of the characters their original moves. I think they messed up Noob's ghostball. I think it should work like Sub Zero's freeze, but it should use some of his stamina. What made it over powered in UMK3/Trilogy is that it stayed on the opponent for quite a bit of time even after being hit. You could perform two long strings of combos and end a match with that one move. That move was also super fast.
I would've like to see the return of Jax's MK2 energy waves, Kitana's square wave punch, and Sonya's upward bicycle kick.
Ermac isn't in the game, but if he returns in the future, they should have his green energy blasts explode on the opponent like in UMK3/Trilogy.
