The term conspiracy theorist has been intentionally dragged through the mud to make anyone offering a different opinion seem like a loon.
A real conspiracy is simply something outside out the current realm of thought that is either unknown or intentionally covered up. It can be proven true or false with further research. No one that is using critical thinking is going to tell you to just take their word for it, and if they do, they are just a pimp trying to get something out of you.

Challenging someone's beliefs is, indeed, adversity. I see what you're saying, but, the fact of the matter is that they've been getting their asses kicked by facts/math/science and they still talk gibberish.
