yes it is.

discomunication.
mantras.
coded language.
us and them thinking.
selected learning materials.
men as leaders.
ever changing doctrine.
downplaying of secular education.
turn a blind eye to social issues.
constant impending end of the world pressure.
narcissistic appeal to specialness.
avoids teaching critical thinking.
lies to followers about oraganisational secular matters.
lies to state about criminal matters.

and yet for all their specialness none of them can explain a simple question like why animals have to suffer. or why people have differing iq's.
Yeah, you hit it on the head. You have exp as a jehova witness?

Religions have a lot of people.

Cults have small amounts of people.
This. "Real" religions like Christianity and Islam were looked upon as cults and clown shyt when they first popped up thousands of years ago. Kill off enough people, get your numbers up, and maybe get a well known something your group is known for (Bible, quran, or meditation in buddhism) and your "cult" becomes a "legitimate" religion too...

cults depend on brainwashing and control over the members by some supreme leader who is validated by God or claims some higher form of spirituality

Cult leaders are always great deceivers of people :demonic:

Cults also seem to always revolve around some type “end days prophecy” or universal truth that ends up being proven false soon enough :skip:

And then the cult gets exposed and dies out with their leaders also dead and people wake up and leave the cult

You can’t expose a legitimate leader or stop religious movement like Christianity for example so it’s not considered a cult. It stands the test of time and becomes an institution that usually does good for society.

Cults are like failed religions/businesses or movements without a “blue check” if you was to compare it to that of social media today. They aren’t trustworthy or “official”.

And most cults aren’t original either they’re usually a bad rehash or remix of another older more established and credible religion.... like a fake page or catfished identity scam.

On another note,

You could say Islam in its early stages was a “Muhammad cult”, who’s members were not known as Muslims but just “believers” who weren’t exactly Jewish or Christian by definition and followed Muhammad as they thought he was the God appointed leader during what they considered the “end times” from the Bible.

There is no difference but subjective opinion and number of adherents.
Big homie, I think religion is passive. Cults are active.

Then they turn their believers into disciples.

What is the definition of a disciple.

Judgement day is an allegory. Of the ultimate sacrifice. Jim Jones plan was to still be alive. Most cult leaders have a out and his disciples suppose to rise after the mass murder.

Jesus raised up again. Sound like he a fraud.

This WAS a cult.

Now look.

It's been 'active' for 2,000 years.

Worldwide.

Cults don’t care about you at all and is only there to exploit you in any and every way.

So Jim Jones was basically a fake failed “Jesus figure”? Sounds like a textbook cult to me. :hubie:

Which revolves around a charismatic leader it’s followers treat like a God, prophet or enlightened.

You already know the rest of the story.

All cults end the same. Christianity been active for 2,000 years and still going

Make sense why a lot of Cults try to copy Christianity, put a new spin on it that appeals to people (community) and a particular culture of the moment, the latest version being Hebrew Israelites :banderas:
