if i had to pick one thing i'd say that i had a petty lil retail job for a while and i left that job and cashed out my 401K. i didn't have much in there cause i started it late so it was maybe like $5000 or so but i could have rolled that over into my current company's 401K had i left it alone.

with the magic of compound interest it would have caused my current 401K to be able to grow faster than it will now.

I don't know if I've done anything extremely, exceptionally dumb yet, but I do always think about how much money I would have right now if I had just saved money or invested money from the time I first started working and had no responsibilities back in high school. I can't blame them I guess because you gotta learn this shyt on your own but my parents probably should have given me some financial advice back then.

The dumbest shyt in retrospect I did was take out student loans and then not finish college, so it was basically twenty five racks down the drain.

going to college in nyc and living in the apartments. even though i had a full tuition scholarship to an ivy league school, the cost of living there was insane. i felt like i had to graduate a year early to cut down the cost (the living costs were almost 20k a year). ended up doing that, missed out on a traditional 4 year academic experience (which was the biggest mistake).

could have gone to a state school with a full ride and actually saved up money instead.
