What’s the minimum amount that should be kept in your checking account at all times?

In a perfect world I would like double my monthly expenses. I typically have everything on autopay but I hate balances at the end of the month so I pay off my CCs early. Anything beyond that amount should be in a HYSA emergency fund, a backdoor Roth, or a regular brokerage.

2 months of expenses in a checking account :what:

If I even see more than $600 in my checking account with no bills to pay, the difference is going into ETFs

I only keep a couple grand. Enough to pay bills and take money out without penalty.

The rest goes into my savings or my brokerage account in order to grow.

Enough to pay 1 month and some change in expenses. If I need more money I’ll just take it out my savings

This is a broke person question. The answer is, however much you need to get through the month. Be it 50k or 3k.

We have clients with over 6 million net worth who regularly dip below having 1k in their main checking account.

We all know this thread is full of liars.

Brehs in here just casually saying $10K, but only being able to eat vending machine snacks the night before direct deposit.
