But since almost these people in L.A. have 2 or 3 roommates they could make it on $40,000 a year a piece

A married working couple at $45,000 a piece can survived..

If u making less than $40,000 it's better to live with family which my Mexican neighbor and wife does cause his parents are old and house is paid for and eventually will be theirs

If you step back and look at it, it's actually insane that $20/hr barely allows you a roof over your head unless you're shacking up with someone else. 10-12 years ago you could have so much more with that kinda money.

Los Angeles here. My idea of a perfect life would be single, making 60k a year, with no student loans.
You could find a really comfortable apartment or condo on the westside or in one of the bougie black neighborhoods and be set.

Nah I don't. The extra $500-700 a month in student loans is what would fukk me over @ 60k, but if that wasn't an issue I mos def could do it. I live comfortably now working one job with my student debt...without it I would be coasting thru life. Vacations every other month type shyt.

Without a family in Chicago...maybe low to mid 40s if you tryna live comfortably.

Housing?Average decent apt in a decent hood is $900-$1500
Car/gas? You can survive on public transportation unlike those bum ass cities like Atlanta,Dallas,Carolinas etc that Coli brehs push
Food? If you shop at Aldis or your local grocery stores you straight

With a family? Maybe 65-70k, if you got a house the property taxes gone eat you alive
