Talking to people that don't know what they are really talking about. Dealing with supervisors that act like they don't know our job. Dealing with people that don't want to do their job. And as you can see all of these problems are with communications, and I'm in the telecommunications field.....
I've gotten pretty much used to da shyt at dis point but always bein da "token" can get kinda
at times. I've had a couple instances where folks have seen mah work and seen da "unusual" name attached too it only to give a sorta
type vibe when dey realize/see it's a brotha dat's behind all dat shyt.
I don't fit da mold AT ALL of what cats usually look like in mah profession.

I love my job, its those over me I'm not feeling. My glass ceiling is slowly coming down and it seems that underqualified men get the promotions and higher raises. I doubt a change comes when they give me my eval next month so I'll more than likely move around at the end of the season.

- I am surrounded by self-important know-it-alls who actually think people give a damn about their research. It's a bunch of old white men patting themselves.
- Everyone keeps reproducing the same studies and saying stuff that we already know.
- None of the good research gets translated into programs that can help the subjects of the research.
- The heavy emphasis on quantitative research as the only valuable type of research (I like quant and qual).

....hell yeah, this too. The fourth quarter at a law firm is
- doing your time entries for billing purposes - that shyt is a damn headache because you HAVE to get it done before a certain time and day each week, or you go on the "list"....which is circulated to the entire firm, all 13 offices nationwide...so you become "that person", lol....I been on the list only once in seven years, though
- other lawyers - I work in litigation. Litigators are an interesting lot....a really good litigator is the type of person whose personality in the courtroom is exactly as it is when they're dealing with people in their everyday lives. That is, they're always "on", and they don't know how to separate the two, how to stop being in "lawyer mode" when they're dealing with, say, their wives or kids or friends. Add in that arrogance (because any really good litigator has to have thick skin and, in fact, be somewhat arrogant) and yeah, most are annoying and need to be smacked.
- constant travel - I ain't one of these nikkas that love to fly out at a minute's notice to do a site inspection, or attend a deposition. But that's part of the job. It's not that I hate going to places, that part is love...I hate flying, I hate airports.
- law firm politics - this runs the gamut, could be a number of things.

I'm a concept designer/visual development artist for da entertainment industry.(Games, film, and television). Basically I'm part of da team of artists in da beginning of da creative pipeline who helps design da look and feel of da content/worlds. Nah. Mah field is just heavily dominated by white n asian folks breh. And in my specific dept. (concept art), brothas are like da unicorns. VEEEEEEERY rare. At least from mah time spent in da industry thus far. And a lot of dem cats aren't exactly some "threatening" lookin doods ya know.
