Spinoff Thread:
I had a ton of interviews this year.

The absolute most disrespectful job offer I has was for an alleged ENTRY LEVEL MANAGEMENT POSITION.

The offer went as followed

Pay Rate: $630 a week flat rate (during the probation period) after probation you are given a raise (although they purposely don't say what the raise will be)

I ask how many hours a week.
THESE MOTHAfukkAS SAID 55-60 hours a week. Brothers and sisters we are living in a brand new age.

You can't call it slavery but got dammit we need a word for these incredibly bad deals employers are offering because they know so many people are hurting and out of work that they have to take these deals until they can find something else.

I will never forget this. First my background at the time, College graduate with a degree in English. I had 3 years of Health care industry experience at the time and my current job was around $14 an hour plus benefits doing data entry (this was 08)

I apply for a job in healthcare at some Duke owned facility near Brier Creek. Anyway the interview is going good, dude is explaining my duties, it was more healthcare managerial assistance. He asked what I made at my previous job, $32K. I'm thinking he's gonna beat that THIS dude TOLD ME THIS JOB WAS $10 an hour. Bruh, I literally made this face when he said it :stopitslime:.

Then he hits me with the :whoa:

"Now as an employee with the Duke system keep in mind the benefits. Free health insurance & benefits."

Basically they do not take out money for my paycheck to cover insurance. I was in my mid 20s so the notion of taking less money and getting more free visits to the doctor when I was perfectly healthy 20 something does not sit well at all.

I'd advise yall watch a couple of episodes of "Job or No Job".

This country is in deep shyt economically/job-wise and if CACs are struggling you know we're getting the shortest end of the stick.

I just processed my passport renewal (standard speed) and expecting it back in late October. I am finalizing plans with my Woman on what we want to do.

But having an exit plan at this point is a must.

Australia looking real nice right now I'm doing my research. A lot of brothers have mentioned they are treated fairly well compared to Amerikkka.

Apparently CACs are different over there and more tolerable. I've been talking about this for a while on here but depending on what happens in November I may start getting serious brehs.

When you are interviewing and an employer in the opening rounds of interviews ask what you are expecting in terms of pay always deflect the question back to them. You want them to be answering questions about salary so you never undercut your potential salary.

Somebody asking me to work for free to get experience, mind you I had my degree already.:martin:

You have 30 year olds completing internships nowadays. It's because companies don't want to train and the cost and burden of career development is all on the worker.

They should just bring back employment contracts in exchange for training. The current Amerikkkan system is stupid as fukk. Part of it is the government's fault though....

When you are interviewing and an employer in the opening rounds of interviews ask what you are expecting in terms of pay always deflect the question back to them. You want them to be answering questions salary so you never undercut your potential salary.

Right now I'm at max salary for my level so once you top out the game works in your favor, because they know they'll need to bump you or promise something else to get you on board or the conversation is over.

Yes this is smart I never say how much I want. But these slave drivers asked me specifically how much I made per hour on my last two gigs.

Once they asked me that and they told me their pay structure I knew I was going to get eliminated.

I don't mind working 60 hours a week but at the end of that week I need my money to be right.

Definitely, if you're putting in those hours the money has to be right. Next time try to avoid answering the question because if they can pay you more they will only pay you just above your pervious job. Next time say something like they paid me a fair wage but I'm looking for a position that is more intune with the market in terms of salary for this position. Also, there should be a job interview thread for tips/interview stories
