$12/Hr Graphic Design gig. Mind you, the average entry level pay-rate for a graphic designer is 24/Hr.
Did they just come out and say this is $12 and hour or were you able to negotiate?

And I took it cuz I was fresh out of college and my dumb ass didn't know any better.:snoop:

If a place is going to hire you they are offering you a job. People ain't just gonna offer people jobs without applying to them that often.

Yeah, it was a contract job and there was no negotiation, and no benefits. I was outrageously stupid at that time. Unfortunately, I'm one of those nikkas that learn things the hard way.

It gets worse considering what went on as I worked there. So after about 5 months, they move me to the Web Design department. Now entry-level Web Designers get paid around 28/Hr, but I never got a pay increase, so I'm still only getting paid 12/hr. Then about 2 months after that they had me interfacing with clients. Now generally, only Senior Designers and Art Directors deal directly with clients, and entry-level pay for those positions are around 32-38/Hr depending on the title (Art Director title holds more weight and therefore gets paid more). However still I'm only getting paid 12/hr because i'm still on the same contract. :snoop: Eventually I start networking with other designers outside that job and found out how underpaid I really was and quickly found my way out of that place. However, I'm embarrassed at how long it took me to realize I was being jerked around.

:stopitslime:Just a week ago I was offered 8.25 for a position thT would guarAntee me only 12 hours a week. I came in for a senior position, have more than enough experience, and wasnt even gonna sweat the eage cause im leaving at the first sign of progress:letyasoulglow:

But when I turned down the job, the guy was still saying things to try to get me on board. I turn 29 next month. I dont care if its just a second job, im not going back to entry level, dealing with shytheads for baby pay rates.

At the very least, you got that work experience, and did it when you were young. Better than being in your 30s gettin lowballed.

I worked at a job doing 3 positions basically. There was NEVER any down time, I thought that was the way it was supposed to be. Then my supervisor left, he called me one night at home like "lets get u out of there, come to this new start up company and do 1/3 of the work for more money".
I was skeptical at first because I was conditioned to being slaved around. But long story short im still here and i"ve been promoted 3 times.

When I first graduated, I got an offer for a call centre job for an insurance company.

First off, it clearly says on my CV that I graduated in Maths and they still offered me a call centre job. Secondly, the job was £18k a year :scust:

I didn't even pretend to be interested when the agency called me.

She looked at me like :usure: and asked was I willing to settle for $10.50-$11.00/Hr

:what: "Seriously? I made that while I was in school"

her: ":skip: We'll call you if we find something that matches your qualifications..."

No question it was by MSG and the Knicks. During the corporate and diversity career fair I looked into joining the Knicks organization. The internship was in finance and was 2,500 for the summer including some perks ( food, tickets, etc) I talked to the representative about scheduling an appointment, and it went well until these cats emailed me and try to offer me a unpaid ( with credit) internship with the rangers:what:. Mind you, I don't give a hell about hockey or its fans. I gave them the :camby:
