What's the point of producing Xbox systems if they don't sell?

Honestly the goal shouldn't be outselling the Playstation, that dream died when they damn near abandoned the Xbox 1 for 3 years when the kinect/always online shyt was rejected.

Felt like they've had one foot out the door ever since. Last generation was the worst generation to phone it in.

They can still carve out a respectable niche in the overall market. 25-30 million is still a very large install base.

They just won't ever be Nike. Especially with the current multiplatform strategy.

It not even about outselling PlayStation anymore, that ambition died on the beach with the reveal of the Xbox one.

It’s about being able to sell enough to commit chip fabrication. I don’t see an Xbox branded pc being able to sell 15m+ consoles especially without retail presence

They cancelled their handheld for the same reason

Yeah they dont have to outsell Playstation. They just need to bring back the Xbox 360 days. That system was stellar

Ever since the Xbox one shyt has been downhill. :francis:

Honestly, next gen without any competition for Sony might be scary. Did they really have competition this gen though?

Like I said many times they lost the gen when people started building digital libraries, people that only own one console are gonna keep buying the one with all their games in it.

Add to that the buying spree they went into, its very hard to justify to the board the lost of billions in revenue from PS and Nintendo ports, so now they are releasing all the shyt everywhere like we knew was gonna happen.

only really matters if they assemble too many units that sit
otherwise they cut the loss like all other hardware
microsoft makes money in a million other places ... they dont win in this area and never have but they keep 25 million people close to brand

what they should have done is bought steam and crossed over with steam on xbox
I see that steam is worth 10 billion so fukk that. they should have just created their own app and stole customers a decade ago and intergrated it

We all know the next Xbox won't outsell the PS6, so why waste the time & money producing something that'll just collect dust and become a mountain dew coaster for those living in a double wide?

:jbhmm:
Xbox and by extension the people who want Game Pass on a console buy enough that it generates $5 billion a year in revenue a year. Doesn't seem like they want to just drop that even if it makes sense for you to cut that off.

They were never going to outsell Sony but have some pride and at least create a niche for themselves and keep the competition at least honest. Competition brings out the best in everyone. Bring something different to the table which they successfully did the first two iterations in my opinion.

Lol at people thinking microsoft is going to be able to retain the same 30 million userbase releasing ‘hybrid pc’s’ without retail presence.

Half the xbox series owners bought the -$300 dollar version like @ORDER_66
