I’ve had a lot of scary moments In my life.

- I was almost hit by a car two weeks ago, the driver narrowly missed me.

- A mother was crying hysterically after her son was murdered inside a women‘s apartment a few blocks from my house. I watched as the medical examiners brought his body out while the mom just broke down crying and screaming “that’s my baby”

- I seen a man lying dead in the middle of the sidewalk during a busy afternoon day. Most people was just walking by him like he wasn’t even there :francis:

- I’ve seen a women attacked on the train for no reason at all by a crazy dude

- My mom threaten suicide after my father beat and cheated on her one night, that was the night I finally decided to cut ties with him

- I was caught in the middle of two separate shootouts

Any advice on how to keep your head on a swivel or general situation awareness?

I think the biggest thing for me is to not ignore gut feelings.

It was one time me and my cousin had linked up with ths girl and her friends, as we were walking to her crib he looked at me, I looked at him and he said something don't feel/seem right, I agreed, yet we continued with the program.

10 minutes later we're kicking it and and a brick comes through the front window. We hit the lights to keep whoever it was outside being able to see anything because I was expecting shots to go off. That's the night I stopped ignoring shyt like that for good because it was just so obvious. We all have those moments, it's so much information being processed by your nervous system and not all of it is going to make sense right away but respect it.

It's been times where I decided not to go somewhere and sure enough some dumb shyt popped off exactly like I thought.

As I was driving back home from an overnight shift on winding backroads, a couple, dressed like a bride and groom, were playing in the road. They were holding hands and spinning around like this:

I swerved and avoided them. I think they were trying to get killed, it was the perfect place to do it because you wouldn't see them until you made the turn but I take driving very seriously, enough to fortunately avoid that kind of nonsense. I don't have any trauma about it, but I sort of keep the story to myself because it sounds crazy. I can still vividly picture them in the headlights, hard to even imagine it was real as that was as close to killing someone as I have ever came.
Were they :mjpls:

The one time I had an energy drink induced panic attack, that shyt was otherworldly.
Ditto. It was actually weed that induced for someone reason but the first time was the worse. I wanted to scream but I knew nothing could be done so I just kept my mouth shut.

Did you get a hunch or signs before these things happened? Did you just ignore these signs or were broadsided? Any general situational awareness advice you can give up during these tough times
I'm bad at picking up on my own emotions in the moment. None of those situations were particularly scary at the time they happened. Its looking back reflecting on them that I get fukked up thinking about it. Only things that scared me exactly in the moment is when I walked the line of getting arrested.

I've gone to therapy sporadically in my 30's and it helps, but I'm not consistent with it, because again I'm not really good at processing my emotions in the moment. I come off like a robot when some off the wall shyt happens or I jump into problem-solving mode.

I normally saw the signs before something crazy happened. Like when the shooting happened, it was some shyt that I tried to walk down, but it escalated because some of my friends have hotter heads than I do. Fortunately, a lot of nikkas have no aim.

I'm used to keeping my head on a swivel. I'm the most aloof nikka with the exception of hood activity. Everyone of my friends have been robbed at gunpoint. I'm the only one who dodged that, and it's not because it wasn't my time yet...I just picked up on it. Some people tried to test me and my friends at McDonald's parking lot one night, we were definitely food standing out there laughing and joking at 1 am, but I saw some folks as they pulled up and motioned like I had something (I didn't lol) but this triggered my friends who did have something, and they sped off. Another time, I used to work late night shifts at work and I actually got followed home, but I picked up on that and started driving in a different direction and finally just sped off.

The almost getting jumped thing was me getting mistaken for someone else. Dude sucker punched me in the back of my head as I was walking home from high-school. I dropped my bag and a cheesesteak I had in my hand and was ready to fight, but then I saw he was with at least 10 other dudes and I calmed down real quick lol. We traded words but I think he ultimately hit the wrong dude because he stopped talking shyt and his friends kept talking. I stood my ground, but sometimes I feel like I should've went down fighting in that moment. Not one of my prouder childhood moments.

1.Sleep paralysis
2. Driving home late one night after having some drinks (but not drunk). Homeless looking guy in a wheelchair and super dark clothes rolls out in the middle of the street right in my path as I’m driving, I swerve and literally miss him by inches. That shyt would have changed my entire life in an instant.

That split second when I realized that I was about to get t boned by a Mercedes Benz suv

When I was driving a got a tornado warning alert that I didn't really take serious. A few minutes later it started raining hard af and it got super windy. When I was almost at my destination the visibility literally went to zero and I had to stop in the middle of a semi busy street. I really thought I was in the tornado funnel or really close to it. Turns out it did touch down in the town I was in and there were a bunch of trees and power lines down and a lot of peoples cars got stuck on flooded streets

Picture late 80s Detroit. Me and my boys were into WWF and WCW so we all out side at night wrestling in the front yard at my boys little brother bday party. We look up and one of the neighbors is chasing a man down the street popping off shots barely missing him. We all turn to run into the house. And old boy ran in wit us!

My ass ran to the basement and here this nikka come right behind me. I hid in a closet cuz ol boy had the heat too.

Turns out he was trying to rob the hood dope house and got caught. My friends mother had to call 12 to get him out the house. Man when I tell you my heart almost came out my chest. I look back and laugh now maybe it's just how you become immune to this type of shyt.

When my 3 year old darted off in a busy department store under the clothes racks and I couldn’t find him for a few minutes. So many things ran through my mind and I felt like I was about to panic. I ended up finding him in the elevator:whew:

I’ve had a couple unfortunately.

- I almost drowned when I was a little kid. I slipped into a big pool at a family reunion and sank to the bottom because I didn’t know how to swim. I blacked out. My uncle saw me fall in and dove in and saved me.

- Almost choked to death eating chicken when I was a little kid. I stumbled downstairs where my sister was and she punched the shyt out of my back until the bone flew out

- In college me and two of my friends got caught lacking late one night in DC. Long story short I had an AK pointed to the back of my head but we got out of there okay. Mistaken identity.

- Bad car crash. Walked away with just a cut over my eye. Thank god I had my seat belt on.

- Fell asleep at the wheel. Drunk. Drove off the road on the highway into a construction zone. Luckily I hit a giant mound of gravel so I walked away with no injuries. I wasn’t scared in the moment because I was sleep but that shyt fukked me up for months afterwards thinking about how easily it could’ve gone the other way.

God is good. I pray everyday for continued protection.
