but if you think it about a lot of us foreigners have been doing this for centuries. all the women in my family collect gold bangles..earings...chains etc. it's a part of jamaican culture to give gold for special occasions...as gifts...etc. most women by the time you're in your 30's have a sizeable collection of it. when my grandmother passed away all her gold went to my mom which will in turn go to me. Arabic and Indian women also do this to a large extent.

I bought the majority of my stuff from here -- primarily silver coins & bars. I have one gold bar I copped back in 2008 when gold was like $980 (sh!t's like $1600 now ) They had some ill designs back in 2008 too when the Olympics were in China.
