I know it’s kinda jokes. I’m gone be sad when she actually wants to get away from me.:mjcry:

Like i said, me taking her to drive ain’t the issue. She’s got to take the class on her own time.

its wild how many other parents I talk to her are so hands off with their kids....just open the wallet.....damn

I got my permit at 16 and my license a year later but I've barely driven at all since then. In NYC I can get pretty much everywhere with buses or the train. It's cheaper than buying a car and paying for insurance & maintenance. I never have to spend time looking for parking. Most of the time things seem easier without a car.

But really the main reason why I don't like driving is that my dad stressed me out like crazy and screamed nonstop back when I was learning and every time I drive now I just feel anxious that I'm going to crash. I know that's dumb but it's hard to get over the anxiety

Gas insurance and entry cars that aren’t completely clapped out hoopties are few and far between. We are about to have a society where all the “adults” are driving around these kids for money until Uber launches these autopilot cars which is playing right into their hands :beli:

I think the reason the trend is spreading is because cars aren't cheap, gas is insane, repairs cost a lot, and there's a lot of services(Uber, Lyft) to accommodate non-drivers.

Shieeet even ride sharing apps getting expensive. I need to make one of these just to run errands

Then use my real car for special occasions.

I can't drive for medical reasons. I have to walk, catch the bus/train, catch a Lyft or get a ride with someone.

The girls I've met/dated don't care if a guy can't drive as long as he's self-sufficient & can get around on his own accord. The girls I've met on dating apps that say "must have your own car" don't mind once I tell them I'm legally blind & can't drive.

Extenuating circumstance. This dude is able bodied and now has a kid.

Do you see how much cars cost nowadays?!:mjtf:
That’s what I’m saying. Who the hell can afford a car as a young person? Between getting fly, eating and going out, a car is the last thing you want weighing your pockets down as a young person. Things different now. Between that note, insurance, gas, maintenance, im good with Uber as a young person.

If you use public transportation it's whatever.
unless you live in a major city most public transportation is useless

ive taken the city bus here a few times and its garbage.. the routes are planned poorly (even tho our city is laid out on a grid), you gotta wait 30m-1h for a bus, no bus shelter/seats, and then you get ON the bus, and there's only 3-4 people on it. i've never seen more than 8 people on a bus here. people just dont use it. the fares are actually decent, $1.75 for 3 hours, but it seems like a waste of gas.

if they added some express routes from the suburbs to the downtown station i think they'd get more riders. and since we're a grid city, a light rail could be amazing if they did it right.. but they won't. very few cities get it right in the first place.

A lot of us grew up in the days of the good running $500-$1500 auction car.

Them days are over. My first car at 16 was a 300zx that I got at auction for $700. Good luck finding that now.

Do you see how much cars cost nowadays?!:mjtf:

True the market is completely different...So many other factors at play now a days....
The days of buying a decent beater/fixer uper for a reasonable price and maintaining it for cheap are far over...

I remember buying a 96 camry for $400 in 09 off some migo breh i worked with, took it to my homies pops up the street he gave it a quick check up and gave me the green light, I just needed to swap out the tires and he gave the link to his guy who did the job for $140...That bxtch lasted me 3-4 years didn't even have insurance on it the first year or so lolll...

But yeah I feel what you sayin OP...If he got a seed he at least need to get his license and then plan towards a car he could share with his girl for the convenience...

I hate driving. And I hate paying for gas/insurance. Outside of work and groceries I avoid it as much as possible
