Because the media brainwashing scared you into using contraceptives. So their is no reason for a man to stick around in a childless relationship. As far as the relationships with a child, what makes you think they aren't taking care of business? Specify what capacity qualifies as taking care of them? Solely monetary?
Why are you asking me questions when I asked for a benefit? How does sharing a man benefit a woman in a society that has equal gender populations and women work?
Men and women can never be equal in reality. That is a illusion. As much as you were taught to be angry at that truth; that's what it is. The more powerful party will always come out on top so we are not equal.
But as far as the benefits. Following your natural instincts can only benefit your personal wellbeing. You will never be happy with one man because any man who is only with one woman will ultimately be a turnoff to the woman he's with. It only works with celebrities because the threat of another women will always be there. This is why every woman is naturally attracted to a man who looks like or is in position to access multiple women. The hierarchy exists whether you like it or not. Ignoring your instincts will only lead to womens misery.
So basically you can't name a benefit.

OP basically answered his own question in the first paragraph. He had a threesome and automatically equated it with polygamy. That ideology is the very reason it could never work. Most modern Western men would only see it as "I get to have wild sex with multiple women", and most modern Western women would (rightfully) see no benefits in the practice.
How would polygamy work in the West today when some men can barely find it within themselves (or their bank accounts) to financially support their kid(s), let alone multiple wives AND children? And that's pretending for a moment that polygamy would be practiced equally across all socioeconomic lines which we all know would never happen.
Because don't think for a second women would be convinced to agree to this only to continue having to work and split the rent with a man and her sister wives. What woman is going to agree to be a second or third wife to a man and still have to work, when she can remain single and support herself? Only the top tier men - who many of y'all already complain about - would be able to engage in this. So where does that leave the remaining 95% of men?

The problem is that western men (such as op) only see polygamy as an excuse for multiple sex partners minus the drama. He said nothing about taking care of either women emotionally or financially.
If men like op just want free sex then op and men like him need to be honest with themselves and say that instead of trying to make polygamy out to be something its really not.
More likely than not, op can't afford both women at the same time. But he can have threesomes with them. If he stated he wanted to take care of them then this would be a totally different conversation. All he mentioned was sex. Which goes back to my original statement.
Western men aren't ready for polygamy if the only thing they can equate it to is more free sex.

Everyone thinks they will be beneficiaries of polygamy. Actual polygamous societies show this is not the case.
