Nah I disagree. The owner cosplay like Hitler Junior and people can't get off his app. Don't ask the government to save you from yourselves

What happened to people standing on or for/against shyt. Like you need regulation to get you off a hateful space with a racist owner. Same way brehs made clubhouse pop they could swing the influence over somewhere else. All it takes is a bit of collective effort and awareness. But Twitter still has a lot of people.

There needs to be something done about paid engagement farming for breaking news and politics. It incentivizes sensationalism at the expense of facts. It's the worst thing to happen to communication. Yellow journalism for the 21st century.
Bots and trolls Monetizing fabricated propaganda stories, disinformation and sensationalist ragebait and passing it off as authentic breaking news from credible/factual sources is what X/twitter is all about right now. Without strictly e enforced moderation, Truth and reasonable behavior will always lose.

I wish I was as confidently stupid as you
AI said you and @karim the dummies. :umad:

how has the black population of harlem changed in the last 40 years?

In the last 40 years, Harlem's Black population has significantly decreased both in percentage and total number, while the total population of the neighborhood has stabilized and grown due to an influx of white and Hispanic residents. This demographic shift is a key consequence of gentrification, driven by new development and rising property values.

Timeline of changes in Central Harlem
1980s–1990s: Population bottomed out
  • After decades of decline, Central Harlem's overall population hit its lowest point in the 1990 census.
  • At this time, Black residents still made up a significant majority, accounting for 87.6% of Central Harlem's population in 1990.
  • Beginning in the late 1990s, federal and city policies fueled a wave of gentrification and investment in the area, causing property values to skyrocket.
2000–2010: Rapid racial shift
  • This decade saw a pronounced decline in the Black population's share of Central Harlem. The percentage of Black residents dropped from 77% in 2000 to 54.4% in 2010.
  • Over the same period, Central Harlem's white population increased fivefold.
  • A 2010 New York Times report noted that Black residents ceased to be a majority in "Greater Harlem" around 1998.
2010–2020: Decline continued amid overall growth
  • The 2020 census revealed that Harlem gained more than 20,000 residents over the previous decade. However, this growth was not driven by the Black population, which declined by over 10,800 people.
  • In Central Harlem South, the Black population share dropped from 56% to 43%.
  • Meanwhile, the white population in Harlem increased by more than 18,000 residents.
2020–present: Black population share under 50%
  • Data from 2021 shows that Black residents made up only 44% of Central Harlem's population. By 2023, the share was about 50.9%, still a sharp decrease from decades prior.
  • Overall, the Hispanic/Latino population has surpassed the Black population as the largest racial group in Harlem when including East Harlem.

Key drivers of demographic change
  • Gentrification: Rising property values and rent have caused the displacement of many lower-income Black residents who can no longer afford to live in the neighborhood.
  • New Development: Expansive projects like Columbia University's West Harlem expansion have accelerated the process of gentrification.
  • Voluntary Relocation: Some African Americans have moved to other neighborhoods in New York City or other cities due to increased opportunities elsewhere.
This overall trend has reshaped Harlem's demographics, shifting its long-held identity as a majority-Black neighborhood.

Problem is the damage done cannot be reversed easily. It will take decades.
:jbhmm:Executive orders are easily reversible, as is amending budgets. The SC, however, is not... unless the next Dem expands the court which Dems were apparently begging Biden to do. Don't know how feasible it is, but they wrote a few bills trying.

republicans are trying to ethnically cleanse all major american cities now. :martin:
Black population of Harlem went from 87.6% in 1990 to 43- 44% in 2021, and you know they counting all the Africans.

That's amazing efficiency from modern Democrats. Yall will remain blind until it starts to affect you and I don't wanna hear SHYT. What happened to holding them accountable? Where's all the performative pro-blackness and diaspora unity?

Oh that's right, Democrat Americans only care about one thing. My bad. :hubie:

Continue count sheep and dream dreams where one team of white supremacist, Zionist, corporate slaves bite the hands that feed them. :mjlol:

This is what happens when bot accounts, algo-driven rage bait, and engagement farming is allowed to run wild.

Internet always had a racist under-belly. Unmodderated spaces always devolve into racism, hate-speech, neo-nazi playgrounds. Especially when backed by anonymity.

The Supreme Court damage is exactly the issue that so many were short sighted on. A lot of his bullshyt is being held up by the Supreme Court and he's actively setting it up to where reversing his tomfoolery will be next to impossible unless stopped now. By establishing precedent and having so many federal judges on is dikk, you will be dead and gone before any of his bullshyt gets thrown out. And who's gonna be affected the most? US.

Kamala may not have been the greatest candidate, but she was not going to be THIS. Cats were warned.

All this both sides, contrarian, grifting goofy shyt disgusts me. Smart Dumbness that we can't afford.

It is definitely the largest breeding ground for anti-blackness. Do they think Black people are happy about this innocent girl losing her life?

Twitter really is full of absolute BS grifters these days.

:gucci: Did you miss that whole section on expanding the court? It's not rocket science, Dems put proposals on the table. We just had an uncooperative Dem president.

You'd need a modern-day FDR with a full cabinet in order to pull that off, but you'd also need some kind of catastrophic event to get more Americans to agree to that proposal.

Conservatives tend to believe statements and opinions based on faith, and what REALLY makes people lose faith is when something awful happens to them or their loved ones... mainly because Americans are stubborn and very selfish compared to other nationalities.
