When did being a decent human being become synonymous with "political correctness"?

I don't want the state involved anywhere.
we need to stop asking the state to intervene. they only time they need to be involved is when a law is broken. Until then they can stay the fukk out of it.
Now if the Government feels that they should include hate speech to be against the law....then I'm all for that. other than that?

Its not like NBC has never hired people from the right. Its cable outlet had Tucker Carlson, Joe Scarbrough and had rightwing people like Hugh Hewitt and Pat Buchanan as hired contributors.
Eh, I really don't see anybody doing that. What people are doing is pointing out, "Hey that thing you did/said was f*cked up." Like I said before what you do with that is on you. Nobody can force you to change your mind about anything. The anti-pc crowd is just annoyed because people calling them out makes THEM uncomfortable.

It's not about "white people talking nice". It's about speaking up and letting them know when they're on that bs. It's beyond me why any black person would be against that?
Do I think that's going to solve racism/sexism or oppression in general? No. But I'm damn sure not going to sh*t on any oppressed community for speaking out against offensive bs. The anti-pc crowd is generally made up of white men who have spent generations sh*tting on anybody who doesn't look like them and are now pissed off that those same people they've exploited, brutalized and ridiculed for centuries now feel even more comfortable speaking out. Fukk them.
This is new media's fault in a way. Even though people are racist, hateful, whatever there's shyt you don't say to other people even if it is true. I'm not going over to dinner at your house and talking about how fat your momma is even if it's true. Taht's a RESPECT line you don't cross. 
I'm not going to your grandma's funeral and telling everyone what a bytch she was at work because of decency. You don't cross that line either
But, all these internet racists and whatnot started getting together on different forums on line or listening to talk radio. Then the Limbaughs and Becks of the world started telling them "hey, there's nothing wrong with how you think. All your people think the same way! Matter of fact, people trying to tell you what you can or can' t say are the problem." Cue some racist store owner surprised he loses his business for racist rant that someone films because "well, all my friend think the same thing..."
So, people who alwaysat "PC" usually are mad they can't say some racist or disrespectful shyt in public.
My only problem with PC is being told I have to AGREE with something I don't like or accept. You can live your life how you want, but that doesn't mean I have to hold hands with you while you engage in fukkery

The quote was written by a liberal white woman like yourself..even internal to the PC liberal crowd there's a belief you guys have jumped the shark labeling everything as racism.
Labeling everything of course seems like progress to you..of course you would think you're doing something good, the economic effects of racism don't really affect you.
For those living the experience it's a whole other thing. They know it's more than words and that white people who are nice to their face still try and limit them economically.
No one's saying people should go around being disrespectful, but for me not focusing on economics isn't really trying to stop racism.

My problem with Liberalism is that it’s more concerned with policing people’s language and thoughts without requiring them to do anything to fix the problem. White liberal college students speak of “safe spaces”, “trigger words”, “micro aggressions” and “white privilege” while not having to do anything or, more importantly, give up anything. They can’t even have a conversation with someone who sees the world differently without resorting to calling someone a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, bigot and trying to have them banned from campus, or ruin them and their reputation. They say they feel black peoples’ pain because they took a trip to Africa to help the disadvantaged, but are unwilling to go to a black neighborhood in the City in which they live. These same college students will espouse the joys of diversity, but will in the same breath assume you are only on campus because of affirmative action or that all black people grew up in poverty. My personal favorite is declaring with surprise how articulate a black classmate is despite the fact that we are attending the same institution of higher learning as they are.
And not holding people responsible for irresponsible rhetoric is in effect enabling the state at large, especially in a pseudo democratic political system

What youre doing here is conflating 2 things...freedom of speech (which is a good thing) and the ability to do bad things with impunity...That whole era happened because the rule of law broke down..cops looking the other way,disarming people to create victims,covering up for murderers,refusing to prosecute or investigate...they werent doing those things because they had freedom to say racist things...they were doing them because they themselves were racist ....and all that stopped not because they were silenced but because they were PROSECUTED...the hate speech was not a cause of those social ills it was a symptom.
If anything it disproves YOUR argument because the people who spoke out about the injustice were silenced often violently so the rhetoric was all coming from one side because at the time their opinions were unpopular.If you were a racist living around that time your views on censorship would fit in quite nicely...
Theres nothing wrong with being polite but PC culture is a way of avoiding the uncomfortable symptoms of a sick society and its not helping because it goes way beyond politeness and crosses into censorship and sometimes even insanity
