Someone tell me how in the world JT is anymore "soulful" than the prototypical RnB star out there?

I mean: Timbo, Neptunes. Arent these producers pretty much the antithesis of "soul"?

It seems that some of you are trying to justify (pun not intended) your reason for listening to him:

"yea man he may be a white boy, but he waaay more soulful than the rest of these RnB cats out here..." :heh:

Just own up to it. He gotta couple of bangers, but you dont have to put down all the other black singers b/c you dont feel comfortable with your guilty pleasure- "Blue eyed soul"

:heh:

Hes pretty mediocre lyrically (maybe a step or two above trey songz) and gets carried by the production so...in that regard I guess you have a point.

Don't be fooled though.

With Pharrell/Timbo, he wouldn't be shyt. His voice isn't anything nice.

Only thing I can't cosign is calling this soul or R&B music. It's pop music with some R&B influence.

But it's good music. Let people like what they like, why do you care?

And there's always hype when a big artist releases new material especially if it's been a while.

I would love to hear JT over Neptunes beats again, would be beautiful :blessed:

Im so confused by this average dude's popularity in the black community. Am I missing something here? I mean you expect cacs to embrace any mediocre white person attemping black music because they usually can't compete, but what's the excuse of black people? Even the dudes at the booth are on his d1ck. :wtf:
Why does it bother you so much that there is a possibility that black people don't only like what you consider to be black music. it's not like there is much to choose from in the "black music" world right now.. If you dont like him :manny: thats good for you

I don't understand it either :what:

Now, don't get me wrong, dude makes GREAT music, but seeing this dude get stanned on here like this is :mindblown:

Some of these same nikkas be so thirsty to call somebody a c00n yet these same nikkas getting moist over a white artist's music :what:

Em gets hated on here despite the fact that he actually put black artists on (D12, Obie Trice, 50) not to mention having classic songs.

One of them tried to play the current crop of R & B singers as "fakkits" yet is stanning JT, like JT is some kind of R & B version of Beanie Sigel :stopitslime:

I know one of those JT stans seriously tried to say Christina Aguilera can't sing yet this nikka is stanning JT :what:

JT fanbase on here is full "is it occie wally or is one mic" ass nikkas :snoop:

Dude is alright. His new album is okay, nothing too crazy to get hyped about. I think the fact that he gets some of hip-hop's heavyweights (Jay, Timbo, etc.) to work with him, it gives him some sort of urban credibility. However he is no where near some one of Usher's caliber.

His first album is a classic. I like his music. There's not much to choose from in RNB. Its funny, all the black singers are either gay or doing pop music while the two white singers are making soul music

White people make a lot of money doing black music this is nothing new. We will support them over our own we turn into uncle toms when it comes to white people doing our music. They stole rock from us this way.

That sums it up. I think race has a lot to do with why black artists turn pop. Their labels want them to reach the larger white population to increase sales. Usher turned completely pop. If he was still working with JD he would have stayed RnB. White artist like JT already got a pop fan base, these are mostly Cacs that don't listen to RnB but will listen to JT :snoop: His albums are solid RnB albums so I respect his work. You can listen to his albums from start to finish which is becoming rare.
