I feel you on all that. Where does gay sex enter into the picture?!?!?!i'm sick and tired of nikkas actin like kendrick is the second coming of god or something, i like him but he's not as lyrical as people make him out to be
that was a Ice Cube song. Flavor was on the track before that, "I'm Only Out for One Thang"b-bu-but flavor flav had a song called 'get off my dikk and tell your bytch to come here'![]()
lmao, it's actually an anti-drinking song. I swear some of you dudes are dumb as fukki wouldnt call k dot a conscious rapper.. especially making a song about drinking
its because they don't appeal to everyone. It never became uncool, it's just not nearly as marketable as trap/party rap or anything else played on the radio
There isn't a shortage of conscious rappers or anything they just don't gain as much shine as some of their peers

I forget when it dawned on me, but most of these rappers who are successful aren't idiots. They just know how to market themselves. You realize this when a lot of "hood/street" artists come across sometimes as better educated and well-read or informed about certain topics than the most highfalutin conscious artist who wants to pretend people need to be dancing to endless wordflips and its the industry's fault people aren't listening to his stuff. When Conscious rappers starting thinking that conscious hip hop was nothing more than a bunch of overly critical pseudo intellectual preaching almost devoid of any enjoyabillity. Whether people want to admit it or not gangsta rappers are usually better songwriters than conscious rappers and alot times better lyricist as well (Freddie Gibbs, Jay Z) the only thing conscious rappers have over non conscious rappers is content and even then most of that is contrived. The reason Kendrick is successful is because he has conscious content with non conscious flow, delivery & songwriting ability.
ThisWhen NWA dropped their 2nd album without Cube in 1991. They downplayed Public Enemy impact and act like being pro-black is corny, even with great musical skill.
@Art Barr can break it down better
Doesn't make sense to me. I don't think you have to specifically be deep into the LA underground scene to understand the concept of tpab.If you deep into L.A. underground, you will understand that butterfly album more.
2pac before Death Row = consciousKendrick being the face of it made it uncool.
Tupac was conscious and is the most popular rapper of all time.
it's a figure of speech brehI feel you on all that. Where does gay sex enter into the picture?!?!?!
