As much as it pains me to say it, J Cole is bringing back acceptance to conscious music in the mainstream. of course, he stole Blu whole steez but thats another story.
My boy @Yoda can break it down better.

The problem with many conscious rappers isn't the lyrical content, it is that the actual music simply isn't good. They fail to realize that they're selling music, i.e., Immortal Technique.
.
Immortal Technique probably sold some of the most records for a non mainstream artist breh. Y'all are labeling anything you don't really like as concious

nikkas saying conscious rap was never popular but NaS got 8 solo plat and 1 group plat album![]()
You can say that about almost any rapper. Does he not have more conscious songs than unconscious? And you cherry picked his least conscious album to fit your agenda. Why didn't you name Gods Son,untitled(******),the lost tapes, hip hop is dead, life is good, distant relatives, streets disciple. All projects since Nastradamus. Name one of those albums that arent conscious.NaStradamus a concious MC? How do you figure? He has concious tracks yes. But also has tons of sons about murder robberies etc.

Who are all these conscious artists who can't rap and have boring beats (like so many in this thread are referencing) I'm struggling to come up with even one name?
I'm being sarcastic thoughif you need to ask then youre just as un-cool as they are.

When gangsta rap became the only thing being played on the radio thanks to labels not caring about conscious rappers.
Which sucks because conscious cats now have less room to breathe socially.
Nowadays the only way conscious rap hits the radio is if a popular rapper who doesnt usually rap conscious makes a conscious song.
No they aren't these days. Variety in the mainstream rap scene is at an all time low in these current times.theres been plenty of conscious and "conscious" rappers being pushed.
and theyve always been the first ones to get critical acclaim from the media.
No. That was Ice Cube. Not only are you a fool, but a dumbass as well.b-bu-but flavor flav had a song called 'get off my dikk and tell your bytch to come here'![]()

Labels are mainly pushing gangsta rappers and giving them all of the promotion and opportunities.
You can have a party record that's also "conscious"
