It just got old I guess.

I would try to hang in there but it wasn't moving me.

Been several months to a year since I checked for them

My Pops Forever RIP
I’ve been a day one D&M fan. It most likely comes from me knowing of Desus back when he used to post on okayplayer. So to see his rise to success feels really good, he’s always been a witty dude.

Now….

I’m glad that the breakup is going public, because the signs have been there for a while. So hopefully they will actually address the situation. My feeling is that Desus realized they can’t give away the podcast for free anymore, it needs sponsorship or something. Giving away the “good stuff” for free devalues anything else they try to do. I think Mero on the other hand sees it as “keeping it real,” and not selling out to keep doing the podcast (for free) to give the people what they want. This is also where their personal lives standings cause friction.

Mero seems to be content/happy with his life, he’s not trying to go “Hollywood.” Desus, on the other hand, is unmarried with no kids, hanging out in other countries with Taylor Rooks, socializing with people like Pharrell at dinners….he sees bigger opportunities.

Desus went and got real entertainment lawyers and agents, Mero is still rolling with Victor. Desus is about to guest host Jimmy Kimmel, Mero’s doing twitch and free podcasts. Mero also has a pilot in the works, but he’s been working on that for about 10+ years.

And the thing is, it doesn’t even matter if Desus does well hosting Kimmel, all that matters is the exposure and networking that comes from it.

Yes, the Showtime show isn’t as funny as the one on Vice, but it has more broad appeal. They’re not interviewing Obama or Denzel on viceland.

That‘s why I’m glad it‘s bubbling to the surface. Hopefully no more subs (primarily from Mero) directed at each other and the industry.

It’s a very Jay/Dame like breakup. In this case Desus is Jay, and Mero is Dame. :yeshrug:
You see it too. The signs were there. It was just progressively going that way. I think hardcore fans were just hoping they were working on something bigger which caused them not to do the pod or the show as much. Desus is also the a$$hole in negotiations whereas Mero just rolls with whatever.

They said a long time ago that they don't even really hang around each other for what you just said. Mero got a wife and 4 kids. Desus out here traveling. Watch him just set up shop in LA and link up with all his newfound connects. Naturally that woulda been the next step but Mero probably ain't ready for that sort of lifestyle change.

Exactly.

I just watched one of those ‘office hours’ segments they would put on YouTube. Desus told a story of how one time they had business out of town, so the driver had to pick up Desus first, and then they went to Mero’s to get him. Desus says when they got there, one kid busted out of the house naked, another kid was begging Mero not to leave, etc.

They just have different priorities, which is perfectly understandable. I just don’t want them nikkas to have beef with one another, or be like Jay and Dame who try to act like they wouldn’t recognize each other from a can of paint.

These two are rich beyond their wildest dreams, and they wouldn’t be able to do the things they’re about to do now without the other.

Fuccing with them corny intersectional jokers undermined the energy.

Uptown riffing and joking ain't supposed to make yacubians and Blipsters feel comfortable, we ain't on that brutish ish Brooklyn jokers on and we ain't flashy like Harlem dudes, Uptown is supposed to always provide that nervous energy where the combo of the gift of the gab and dismissal of social norms is what makes us funny. Them niccas on Complex embodied that perfectly.
