Yeah the pod been a dub for months.

The SHOWTIME show might continue, but seeing as Desus is covering for Jimmy Kimmel soon, that might be on it's lasts legs, too.

I’ve been a day one D&M fan. It most likely comes from me knowing of Desus back when he used to post on okayplayer. So to see his rise to success feels really good, he’s always been a witty dude.

Now….

I’m glad that the breakup is going public, because the signs have been there for a while. So hopefully they will actually address the situation. My feeling is that Desus realized they can’t give away the podcast for free anymore, it needs sponsorship or something. Giving away the “good stuff” for free devalues anything else they try to do. I think Mero on the other hand sees it as “keeping it real,” and not selling out to keep doing the podcast (for free) to give the people what they want. This is also where their personal lives standings cause friction.

Mero seems to be content/happy with his life, he’s not trying to go “Hollywood.” Desus, on the other hand, is unmarried with no kids, hanging out in other countries with Taylor Rooks, socializing with people like Pharrell at dinners….he sees bigger opportunities.

Desus went and got real entertainment lawyers and agents, Mero is still rolling with Victor. Desus is about to guest host Jimmy Kimmel, Mero’s doing twitch and free podcasts. Mero also has a pilot in the works, but he’s been working on that for about 10+ years.

And the thing is, it doesn’t even matter if Desus does well hosting Kimmel, all that matters is the exposure and networking that comes from it.

Yes, the Showtime show isn’t as funny as the one on Vice, but it has more broad appeal. They’re not interviewing Obama or Denzel on viceland.

That‘s why I’m glad it‘s bubbling to the surface. Hopefully no more subs (primarily from Mero) directed at each other and the industry.

It’s a very Jay/Dame like breakup. In this case Desus is Jay, and Mero is Dame. :yeshrug:

I stopped listening to the podcast a few years back. I do think they are funnier than the majority of working comedians in the game personally, and since they are well-informed they can throw out obscure references from any field or time period, but because they put out so much content, it started to feel a lil repetitive after a while. It wasn't worth sitting through +30 minutes of content to hear those 2-3 jokes that really really connected so I fell back. I still follow Desus on twitter fwiw

When I reminded myself they’re New Yorkers and all New Yorkers do is lie and talk too much

Damn, giving Joey Chestnut a run for his money. I wonder why the NY stuff doesn't bother y'all when y'all listen to NY's invention- rap music

I listened to them a few times when they 1st started, like 2014. As much as I think NY nikkas have a good sense of humor, that shyt needs to consumed in small doses.
