Vice fukked them over by making the show extra political. I used to listen to them before it was 2 black men around my age riffing on sports, hiphop, and pop culture, if I wanted to listen to politics there were a million other podcasts and YouTube shows to listen to.

But vice had them interviewing every flavor of the month politician, the beginning of the show turned into the same 10 minutes of lame orange cheeto jokes that every other late night show was doing. They started rocking with the clout leeches over at "woke" black twitter and became corny to their original audience. And without good topics to discuss and them just winging it, everybody realized Mero wasn't funny and kind of corny.

Good on them boys for getting that bag but their audience is more nikka nerd and the type of black people that check on the Mueller report everyday for 2 years straight and repost memes from occupy democrats. But if 2 dope queens can get a 2nd season on a cable network they should be ok.

/thread. This is all y'all need to know right here.

Africa, center of the world.
It got played out when they referenced Pelle Pelle jackets for the 700th time on their podcast.. Their references and jokes are a snapshot of a few years in the early 2000s.. not much new stuff if you've listened to them long enough. Plus their ability to relate to the 'coming up' part of the come-up diminished as they became more successful. One of the main draws at the beginning of their podcast was that they were telling the story of regular men with regular backgrounds men trying to make it in this world. They've accomplished that :ehh: I certainly don't blame them if their content isn't marketed to the same audience it once was. It's hard to sound relatable to broke people when you aren't :ehh:

Yeah they basically outgrew their initial brand. Happens in music too, only so long you can listen to a millionaire tell stories about years ago when he used to sell crack. You gotta evolve into something new that the people want or you’re out.

BTW OP, they never got sonned on the Breakfast Club you’re buggin. Envy is the one that did, and still does, look like a clown for that. They were literally up there laughing and joking with Envy’s cohosts while he pouted in the other room :mjlol:

Mero funnier than Desus
:hhh: I like some of Meros comedy but he has never been funnier than Desus outside of his Trump impersonations and the few other ones he can do.

I like their stuff still, so I will watch the show, to see who will get the better this time around

Desus is more witty to me, but Mero just be saying wild foul shyt sometimes that’s hilarious. Plus he does the voices. But now that they’re famous and on the PC shyt it’s a little different. Now he’s a lot more chill and he giggles all the damn time.

But they play off each other well so it’s hard to say who’s funnier foreal, they both have their moments.

Excellent Thread

I stopped listening around the time the show was in full swing. For whatever reason the shyt no longer grabbed me. It’s a shame they never fulfilled what I thought their destiny was....

Them boys should have had a movie written shopping it to Hollywood. They had enough talent to create a Super Bad for the hood. Kept it true to their origins...They went to high school together but didn’t know each other. Basically highlight their individual journeys but make the shyt funny and Leary’s up to the point where they actually come together and attempt the podcast

Them nikkax missed their fukking boat

I agree, esp during Vice hiatus. At least throw sumthin on YT to keep em out there, besides the podcast. Coulda been like a modern day Kid & Play

i wont count em out juss yet tho.

EDIT: Class act was my shyt when i was little

I never watched a full late night show episode.. I got hip to them off the YouTube clips...so all I can base it off was the podcast for what I'm judging them on.... It kinda got stale... The jokes were starting to get borderline cac-ish... Like that humor that you can't bring to the barber shop... And quite frankly I found the Joe Budden podcast... It felt more relatable... Like just some of ya boys just kicking it whether I disagree e them or not it was just a better fit
