Huh? Jay could never do a song like Shootouts, and be that descriptive with his storytelling. He would never think to write something as abstract as Silent Murder. You would have to be the biggest Jay stan in the world to sincerely believe that there's NOTHING that Nas can do better than Jay.
Hov has too much style to do that sort of unnecessarily wordy shyt. Its just a literal story. Why would Hov do that? That shyt ain't THAT impressive.

Thats what I'm saying.

Hov CAN do that.

Thats all Nas does.

Theres no metaphors in this. Theres no slick or witty lines in this stuff. Its just a literal "hey heres what I did during this eventful day..."

C'mon son. Hov is nicer than this.

bullshyt being more complex i can say gets you more points on rap message boards and on the internet in general

second jay-z is a monosyllable rapper for the most part he sometimes rhyme multi-syllabic rhyme patterns.
sometimes he rather focus on clever lines then wowing people with his vocab.

as a writer myself fundamentally rhyming more then one syllable on a consistent basis and doing it in way where your telling a story make sense and be complex with the metaphors wordplay etc it's hard to do that for a entire verse
very few mc's can do that.

and entendres are not a literary technique imo and nas does have better punchlines then jigga imo fukk out of here with that bullshyt !!!!!!!!!!
This is YOUR example:

Bruh, Nas is nice. I'm not denying this.

But I can't listen to this for 20 years.

I can listen to this shyt over and over

Jay's music just SOUNDS better.

A lot of Nas' work is cool as an exercise...but this aint a song in my eyes. Its just spitting for spitting's sake.

Hov comes through with a higher level of straight out grown man balling and life lessons in his shyt.

Remember, Hov was OLDER when his first album dropped so his rhymes are way more cohesive and have more effort into differentiating them.

bruh lyrically nas is better in a poetry technicality content non flashy sense u like metaphors wordplay punchlines
bottle popping i get that but it's more to it then that with rap.

nas has balance jay-z dont therefore in my mind he is more lyrical and a better artist then jay-z.

see THIS is the Nas I like:

and even then...Jay is STILL nicer. With way slicker rhymes, themes, and metaphors. Hov is just iller.

all that "lemme rhyme for the sake of telling stories" shyt gets tired REAL fast.

And he's got some songs here and there since 2004...but NO WHERE near as many as Jay Z. Its not even close.

Nas has never spit something with this much fukking conviction in his LIFE

Hov was really LIVING this shyt. He wasn't on some "lemme impress nikkas with my spiritual lyrical miracle" tip

and I'm a Nas fan.

Hov had you like :damn: straight telling LIFE LESSONS.

To me, they can't really pass each other. They're in different lanes with different appeals, apples and oranges really. Jay makes raps with double entrendres littered around with about his ambition and making it in his world. Nas has more thought out concepts and prides himself as street poet, a mystic of sorts, not shying away from social commentary. Nas has music suited for more somber moods while Jay's covers a broader spectrum. To me, Jay had better beats, due to dealing with Kanye, Just Blaze, who use dope sampling techniques, while Nas.....yeah. Jay's rhyme scheme is more conventional and regular while Nas' raps can start sounding like a haiku.

He surpassed this?

Through the lights cameras and action, glamour glitters and gold
I unfold the scroll, plant seeds to stampede the globe
When I'm deceased, by then the beast arise like yeast
To conquer peace leaving savages to roam in the streets
Live on the run, police paying me to give in my gun
Trick my wisdom with the system that imprisoned my son
Smoke a gold leaf I hold heat, nonchalantly
I'm raunchy, the things I do is real it never haunts me
While, funny style nikkas roll in the pile
Rooster heads profile on a bus to Riker's Isle
Holding weed inside they p*ssy with they minds on the pretty things in life
Props is a true thug's wife
It's like a cycle, nikkas come home, some'll go in
Do a bullet, come back, do the same shyt again
From the womb to the tomb, presume the unpredictable
Guns salute life, rapidly, that's the ritual

When was that I missed it
