This dude has probably had the most improbable career in Nba History

Never even dribbled a basketball until he was 16, gets to the league and looks like a career G leaguer then all of a sudden make a monstrous leap to become this border line allstar and is one of the main reasons why Toronto won that championship

But he still seemed 2nd tier at best. Matterfact Kawhi first tried to have him flipped for PG and Westbrook before leaving. And the word was that Kawhi just didn’t think Siakam was a good enough running mate to win championships with (but somehow thought Paul George was)

The year after Kawhi leaves dude makes another huge leap and now becomes an all nba player but then gets absolutely undressed in the bubble against the Celtics in one of the worst showings you’ll ever see from a star player. To the point that everybody thought he was just an overrated one trick pony with the same garbage spin move

What happened after that I can’t pinpoint or explain. Dude really Is an elite player now. Has added so many layers to his game and it seems like it came out of nowhere, Didnt even seem like it was a gradual progression. He‘s now a premier playmaker, scorer and shooter and defender

I remember it being a hilarious running joke to compare him to Tatum but the Siakam now can truly go band for band with Tatum or any elite player.

He was always this good - he just played on the Raptors and a lot of nikkas didn’t watch but we been talking about how cold he is since 2018. He’s the type of player that has developed and got better EVERY season because of his work ethic and desire to elevate different parts of his game.

Every offseason he in the lab working on tweaking those elements and he brings them into each season. A lot of players “work” in the offseason but it’s not too many that are truly transitioning that work into results during the season. You see it with him every year. We needed Kawhi to win the chip but we also don’t win it without Pascal - he was damn near the second option who throughout that run at times had to guard Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris, Giannis, Draymond and Klay. Not every possession or every play but long stretches throughout games and would still give us 17-20 points. Just a very good unique player that is a very hard worker

Honestly that second round Celtics bubble series was the only time he was bad in the playoffs. If he performed just at a below average level, the raps win that series and advance to the ecf that year. If you remember it, That series between the raps and celts was a very close/hard fought war. Otherwise, Spicy P has been a very good playoff performer.

Casuals just don’t watch ball and pay attention to details. He’s the type of player that actual basketball fans with passion and knowledge for hoops respect and appreciate. Casuals overlook him because he’s boring and doesn’t have the it factor. Tim Duncan is underrated by the same people for the same reasons.

Siakam/spicy P ain’t a flashy or spectacular wing with iconic/recognizable/signature moves. He isn’t exceptionally quick and athletic. Hes not a powerful and domineering power forward
who dunks and overpowers opponents like Shaq. He’s low key, introverted and isn’t known for his charisma/personality/aura. You never hear about him Off the court. No controversies surrounding Him.

But he’s a effective, methodical, well rounded, balanced player that does all the things well and works hard to improve his flaws. Straight up professional who keeps his game simple, he doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel if you understand me..


He does his job then goes home without making a scene.
