I was 1 of those guys saying Hip-Hop Is Dead when Nas dropped that album.
But at that time i was just getting into real Hip-Hop and it felt very alive for me at the time.
I would say it ended for me about 5 years after that.

Before that i only listened to Jay-Z & 2pac.

What kinda idiot listens to Pac and Jay then feels good about naS? It's like you just got rid of all the stuff that made hip hop good and added what made it bytchmade... Then again maybe you relate to that :manny:

Never, cause it's not.

BUT the moment I realized it would never be THE shyt again, was when 'Laffy Taffy' came out... and then two yrs later when 'Crank That Soulja Boy' came out and grown adults were rockin' to that shyt... that was kinda my breaking point when I just had to start specifically listening to shyt I liked, cause being a fan of the whole rap game wasn't gonna be possible anymore :mjcry:

I'll never be one of those people always pattin' themselves on the back for not knowing anything recent... I'll always listen out for new music to like... but it just ain't the way it was, brehs... :mjcry:

Hip hop isn't dead. What you hear in on the radio and see on the top 40 is really called "Hip pop."

Hip hop is still alive through the underground, after being beaten, sodomize, buried alive and left for dead throughout the years of 2006 to about 2011 ish.

The Drake Hotline Bling video/song is definitely not when it happened. Watching the video this morning though, all I could think of is "hip hop is over".

It definitely wasn't hotline bling that did it, but hotline bling is proof it happened.

Please listen to lil wanyes mixtapes if u don't think lil Wayne ain't one the greatest rappers that's a personal problem

I just KNEW there would that one breh who misses the point.

When Lil Wayne was being considered as a reasonable candidate for being GOAT. Regardless of whether that claim makes sense or not (I can't judge that), I knew that as any top rapper he would be would be copied by far less talented "mcs" : problem is, his style is easier to trick people into believing it's "hot", as long as you have a catchy beat.
