To keep your hair tidy and dance, sing or play sports? To praise Europeans and think the only history of black men and women was slavery?

What books and radio shows or lectures did you begin to pay attention to?

How did it make you feel about america and the people around you?

I was always on some pseudo conspiracy shyt as a young bul, but Junior year of high school when it started to look like Obama had a legit chance to become president. I went to catholic school (:scust:i know) and that was the first time I paid attention to white folks collectively get on code. I swear every week the teachers were on some Bill O'Reilly shyt.

calling him Barack Hussein Obama

Meanwhile Bush drunk ass out here taking golf vacations all in Texas while gas was $4 a gallon & 2 wars were poppin off, yet they wanna spend all day talkin about a potential candidate. That whole 08-09 year was a real eye opener for how quick white folks will get on the same page.

You shoulda seen how mad these cacs got when Obama won the in school mock election & the real election.

Too young to remember. I remember listening heavy to lil wayne and juelz santana and checking youtube for alien sightings and lizard men politicians back in 04, a little earlier maybe. Started getting universal attraction and law letters in the mail. Found sohh. Etc
What's that have to do with being black in America?

It wasn't till I went to college and I took Intro to African American literature ( Mandatory writing course), and Intro to black Nationalism ( Diversity mandated course). It was with Dr. Shai, African American literature professor, that I learned about the Tulsa riots and black Wall Street. We had to read the "burning". It was because of that class I understood about black communities and excellence. They don't teach you this in high school.

When it came to intro to black nationalism and learning about early African tribes, it just changed my whole perspective on How I felt about Europeans and their invasions of African tribes. I'm not going to lie, if you take Dr. Okafor for intro to black Nationalism, you're going to end up hating white people. I guarantee it.

Can you drop knowledge on early African tribes?
from birth, but didn't particularly act on it until 2008

btw none of the shyt mentioned in here is consciousness..more like conscience and savviness perhaps
Well would you like to add consciousness instead of just point out what it lacks. Like be constructive

I never was ..... my Dad was the biggest influence on me, taught me how to read , what books to read, told me about the white man, as a proud African man taught me about my culture ,
