Also remember when these artists go Platinum multiple times and the TOTALS are around 20 Million, etc... it's usually because it was the same 1-2 Million people buying the albums... I had a cat argue that 100 million people bought Diddy's albums... :snoop:

He didn't my bad, he sold more copies than Jay though. He released two #1 albums in one year.

GIFSoup jay sold 5 mill in that year, and x had 2 albums that both sold 2 mill

:snoop: and this dumb ass nikka thinking bp3 had a chance at going diamond, are yall nikkaz that out of touch, like for real, what is yall nikkaz smoking, no rap album has any chance, shyt em, drake and wayne dont even get over 3 mill, jay sell pretty much the same as them

Only 6 Rappers in the History of the Genre have gone Diamond

MC HAMMER
BIGGIE
2 PAC
OUTKAST
EMINEM

It's a very elite group that's now etched in history since nobody is moving Diamond units in Hip Hop Again. "Hard Knock Life" was Jay's closet shot but he didn't have blockbuster #1 single to take him to the top.

9x Platinum:

Tupac - All Eyes On Me
Will Smith - Big Willie Styles
Nelly - Country Grammer
L-boggie - Miseducation

Those are the ones up to bat.

I thought 50 went diamond or was that :duck:

In the case of Biggie, Pac and Outkast are those double CDs that get their units counted in double?

I remember reading that the Fugees actually had the highest selling album at 17 million with the Score (it was always being thrown out there as a fact but never read. Maybe they meant including international sales too, it was a huge album)

Lets be reality, AEOM has been 9X plat for like a decade, we know that shyt is diamond now... we just need DR to request the damn certification

but if Vol 2 was a double disc itd be diamond I think... shoulda threw a few more tracks on it and split it

and I think Vanilla Ice went diamond... Em before Em

What rap artists have gone diamond? Lets not include double discs goin' diamond cause what it actually means is they sold only 5 millions copies or more...

I can only think of Eminem's MMLP and MC Hammer's Dont Hurt Em...

Not sure about Nelly's Country Grammar and 50's GRODT numbers but if they ain't I bet they the only ones pretty close.

Eminem TES went diamond aswell, so did GRODT :blessed:

EDIT: Are we talking US sales? im from UK only looked up worldwide sales

Jay is pretty talented he isn't even at the peak of his career yet so maybe a few years down the line he will go platinum.

And of those five on the diamond list two are dead and Jay has more money than all the others. So obviously he has done something right over the years even without a diamond record.

Stan,

What does that have to do with being able to go Diamond?
