you can say this producer or that producer has produced more popular songs, albums or classics than him but dj quik is best hip hop producer of all time because his sound is timeless. in some ways i think he's even wasted some of his talent fukkin' around with hip hop the last few years because i could see him producin' for a lot of indie artists of many other genres of music such as r&b and jazz

As I approach 40, my biology tells me to like clean and crisp because down and dirty may lead to me being killed. That bizarre thought aside, I bought Quik's first album in 1990 and loved it. Hated his second album so much it turned me off to him entirely until 1998 when my homeboy who worked at the label gave me 'Rhythm-A-Lism" which i hated too. I had the clean version. It took me moving to LA to get the Quik wave back. I absolutely fukk with him now. Actually met him browsing the soul section of Amoeba a month or so ago.
