As I approach 40, my biology tells me to like clean and crisp because down and dirty may lead to me being killed. That bizarre thought aside, I bought Quik's first album in 1990 and loved it. Hated his second album so much it turned me off to him entirely until 1998 when my homeboy who worked at the label gave me 'Rhythm-A-Lism" which i hated too. I had the clean version. It took me moving to LA to get the Quik wave back. I absolutely fukk with him now. Actually met him browsing the soul section of Amoeba a month or so ago.

wow, way 2 fonky threw you so far off with his music that you didn't even bother checkin' for safe + sound when it dropped? and you didn't like rhythm-al-ism at all?
now that you back on the quik wave, what did you think about rhythm-al-ism today?
how was he when you met him?

Balance & Options is one of my favorite albums ever.

But Quik will always come 2nd to Dr Dre for me when it comes to producing albums. Quik is super dope but he never got next to or surpassed The Chronic 1 & No One Can Do It Better.

Some days I feel Quik is better and some times I feel Dr Dre is better but when I compare their best body of production (not just being a beat maker) Dr Dre takes it.

i hear you but i think part of that is just by default. all names and "brand" aside, song for song, i would say safe + sound and street gospel could go toe to toe with the chronic and no one could do it better production wise. that might sound blasphemous to some but the production on that street gospel album is some of quik's best to me

it speaks volumes that quik's contributions and assist with some records on aftermath were huge successes too

truth hurts' addictive record and then this too :wow:

his best album is safe and sound

he fell off after rhythmalism but still had a song here and there after

i would say he was underrated when he was on top of his game but not currently
