When Ja Rule dropped “Clap Back’, was it an uppercut to 50 Cent in real time???

The interscope machine was too strong...

Jay was smart to lay low cuz 50s momentum would have given Jay real problems if something developed

Clap back was a MEAN song, but it was never gonna get its proper due..

I'm from New York got lots of spin, but g-unit/shady/aftermath collective was too much...
Then dmx was sending disses as well..

In hindsight, ja should have waited to the Storm cleared..

Schooling people takes forever; don't bother
Drake basically took ja rule's template of 'clap back' and made a diss single in 'back to back'-- that shyt might have worked in Drake's era but people was still looking for bars. Ja dissed 50 on hardcore mixtape records and on radio friendly hooks, not sure what else Ja could have done more outside of going 300 bars on 50 like the game. Everyone was jocking g Unit for the longest but once 50 showed himself as a bully dissing nas, joe, Jada, etc, that's when a lot of fans wanted to root for the underdog in another artist

It did absolutely nothing. I always felt bad for dude he got a raw deal from the fans and industry. It's one of the things I've come to hate about hip hop and the entertainment industry as a whole, like the whole building up of someone just to find someone or something to tear it all down. And the masses buy it, "hook, line and sinker ". Dude was selling like 3 million every time out he was dare I say it, bigger than Jay-Z at one point. Go back and look ppl was buying and jamming them albums. Plus he had the female game on lock. But that was the thing, if you're audience has too many women and something more masculine comes along and they like that more, then you're time's up
That is what happened IMO, he catered to the female base more and honestly that sing song crap he was doing sounded horrible (He had a horrible singing voice to begin with), that girly anthem stuff put a big dent in his image IMO and all it took was someone coming out like 50 who had the streets behind him at the time and after that it was a wrap. Ja kind of set himself up with that music he was doing and then tried to come back later with Clap Back and New York style songs (Which were nice but it was over by then). He was selling a lot of records and on top as you said for a minute, then that came crashing down and heads turned really fast. I never liked that sh*t he was putting out around 01-02

Ja's problem was the going OD on the chick songs..

Blood In My Eye was a return to the VVV days but it was too late.
Facts, he was ODing on them sing song anthems for the chicks, he was an easy target at that point... The hardcore fan base hated that sh*t and turned by then and he was left with mostly female fans at the time, then 50 finished him basically.

Ja was always so ass to me but Clap Back was f'n hard! "Break em down nikka, break em down!! Queens in this mothafukka!" :banderas:

One of like 4 Ja Rule songs I ever liked

Clap Back
How Many
Dial M
Race Against Time

I won't front, "Mesmerized" was kind of a vibe too, lol. So was "Caught Up"...nah, that shyt was more than a vibe, just pure fire.

shyt is truly crazy :mjlol: How you kill a nikka for his female songs and then come out with more female songs:russ:
50 stole Ja whole style, talked about him making female songs then went to the video shoot for 21 questions, only blew up because he had one of the greatest producers ever making his beats and inherited one of the most popular rappers ever cac fans, and people just smooth try to pretend like this dude was some unstoppable music force :mjlol:

The further he got from em and dre the worst his music got. Does he even make music anymore? :mjlol:

People straight up pretend like they didn't get duped by 50 to:mjlol:

How he pull this off? Dude called Ja a wanksta and then overnight nikkas tried to act like they never listened to ja:mjlol:

Not at all. Jas album the next year actually had a couple hits and some buzz but this was a flop even though the song is good.

21 Questions
Just A Lil Bit
Candy Shop
Wanna Get To Know You
Amusement Park
Ayo Technology
Baby By Me
Do You Think About Me

Let’s be honest here, were any of those actually better than the ones Ja was doing? Almost every one of those were on par with that “Mesmerized” trash :laff:

Wanna Get To Know You is the best one out of all of these with 21 Questions. Everything else was candy pop trash. Can’t believe fans fell for this hypocrisy of him dissing Ja only to make worse candy rain ass song.

50 didn't OD on the female songs though...

He always kept it street and added a few female songs. If Ja had balanced it out, things would have been different....

Irv and them were copying the whole Puff Daddy and the family formula.

Ja should have taken a year or two off and came back with something like this

That shyt woulda been a smash in his prime, regardless of what 50 was doing.

Ja released a NY anthem, a diss response in Clap Back and a radio single with Kels & Ashanti that got heavy play

3 major swings

He could have waited two years….it wasn’t to be from that point on
