I don't get how she's acting black. I don't act in such a manner and probably half the members of this site don't do that

When people say "acting black", they mean stereotypically black or speaking in hoodspeak.

Most of us know that because it's been pretty ingrained in a lot of us. That's why you have things such as a non-black person "speaking black" or a black person "speaking white".

It's pretty much common knowledge at this point and to feign ignorance of it is pointless. She did it, you're doing it. Even though your reasoning is because you don't associate those things automatically with blackness, it's still silly not to recognize that. It's annoying but its the state we're in at the moment.

Things get even muddier when there are certain things some black people grew up around.

Bruh why those dudes tryna play dumb? they know what the fluck it means :what:

no, what does it mean? i'm black and most of my friends are black, and none of us act like this. like someone else said, replace "black" with "ghetto" or "ratchet" or "hood," and you'd have a point. saying she's acting "black" is racist and disrespectful to the millions of blacks who don't speak with this ebonics gibberish.

come on, breh. ebonics is just another word for uneducated. it's what blacks speak when they didn't pay attention in class. it's an extension of our community's disregard for education and knowledge. you realize that when people hear a black person speak ebonics, they are less likely to consider them intelligent, and therefore less likely to hire them or consider them someone with whom they can have any productive business relationship.

why do people use "proper English" when the term is "standard English"

standard is a more technical term regarding the formal rules of language. proper, in my mind, is just "english" that sounds right. ebonics does not sound right. it sounds low class.
