another week, another player calling out the offensive game plan...

Chris Long said it a few days ago, it feels like a bunch of plays being called without actually utilizing a gameplan. There's no rhyme or reason, impossible to create any flow or rhythm. Kellen would pretty much concede the entire 1st quarter setting up the rest of his game and that still felt more cohesive than these bi-polar halves of football.

Defense starts stacking bodies like that on a short week it's whatever, but the offense not being able to play a normal game yet is jarring. I kinda feel bad but it's at a point where Patullo's falling on the sword in almost any scenario, Lurie's not spending all this money on offense to have drives end without a 1st down or touchdown at the same rate as Tennessee :russ:

First time watching an entire Giants game this year and Dart and Scatterboo looked aight :ehh:
The announcing team started overdoing it with all the hype and praise though. Those guys looked great in huge part because our secondary and run defense is straight trash.
LBs have been playing meh with Zach Baun getting trucked twice including on the 1yd line and that separation graphic was brutal when Dart juked him out his shoes :francis:
Hopefully Mitchell is not hurt long term because if so we might be stuck with one of the worst set of corners in the league
Another mid game from Jalen. Missing throws, ignoring wide open guys, holding on to the ball forever, and underthrowing on deep balls. They mentioned it during the game but the only good thing about the underthrows is we get PI penalties when our receivers need to come back to the ball
And where df is our pass rush. Even when they caused breakdowns they couldn't contain or wrap Dart up. Had dude out there looking like Lamar Jackson the way he was scooting around defenders and then dusting them when they broke containment
This team is just flawed as fukk and early on in the season I was hating when national guys underrated us despite the undefeated record but they may have been right all along

All guys cared about was the wins and I mentioned how we won and executed is more impt

Jalen has been absolutely subpar against 4 man rushes this season

I agree with Lane that the run game needs more variety

The pass rush is just not good enough

CB2 is horrible

Run def is soft

yea glaring issues be glaring :manny:
I compared this season to '23 a couple weeks ago. we've seen a flawed team stack up wins before then it all came apart
At least the eye opening loss came earlier this time so they still have time to adjust and fix the issues if possible. Hopefully there is no Matt Patricia type on this staff who takes things from bad to worst :lolbron:

Defense: two of our three best defensive players injured

Offense: does Saquon suck now? Is he just a guy? Like what the hells going on.

Didn't watch the Giants game but saw the highlights.

I can't think of anything more embarrassing in recent memory. Losing to the Giants??:hhh:

Hurts:

  • I'll sound like a broken record, but I am sick and tired of the coddling of Hurts when he consistently makes the same mistakes or refuses to pass to guys who are NFL open but aren't WIDE OPEN. He missed D. Smith for a TD. He missed AJ for a TD on the terrible late throw he threw to Dotson that turned into a pick. And why did he throw that anyway? 'Cause that's his game. Go balls, sideline curls, out, etc, because he's not comfortable throwing to the middle. AJ was wide open running a post route to the middle of the field on the play he threw a pick. It would have been a TD. But nope, Hurts has to throw to WR3, who gets zero separation on a short out that he throws late to make matters worse.
  • Want to know why AJ and Smith get upset? It's because of this. And it's because even when they won their first four games, it was mainly due to miracle plays by STs or the defense turning the ball over, and similar plays. They are paying top QB money to throw to (2!) top WRs who they are also paying top 5 money to, and they can't complete simple passes to them.
  • Most fans will call for the OC and HC to be fired, but these are the same issues, particularly with the pass game, that Hurts has faced since college: with Doug P, with Nick calling plays, with Shane calling plays, with Brian Johnson, with Kellen Moore, and now with Kevin Patullo. Are we to believe all these coaches, some from very different backgrounds and styles, don't know how to design or call plays? That they can't scheme guys open? I'll point out how bad Shane's offense looked in Indy with Richardson, and now it looks more like his 2022 Philly offense, since he now has a QB who can make his offense work. So did Shane forget how to coach the last 2 seasons?
  • Or is it far more likely that the Eagles run the offense that works best with, or for, Hurts? Hurts has come out and said, "It's going to look like how I want it to look". He has said he doesn't like a lot of pre-snap motion. He doesn't like under-center play action. He doesn't like to throw to the middle. Ok, cool then, good luck coming up with a decent passing attack when you have to remove all those elements from the offense.
Full post for those that care
The game last night was one of the most embarrassing games of this era of Eagles football, maybe in the past 10 years, since Chip Kelly's final year. They all deserve blame, and they all should be called out. Sorry for the long vent ...

Patullo and Sirrianni
  • The only thing I can find about them is what Lane said post-game. If they are this predictable or giving a tell pre-snap, then it's on Patullo and Nick to fix it. The DL is living in the backfield. So it's either they know what is coming or the OL is complete shyt now. And yeah, the OL sucks right now, but Patullo has to fix this. His sequencing also didn't make much sense. One particular series late in the 3rd quarter sticks out. 1st and 10, run up the middle that gains 1 yard. 2nd and long, they rerun it with Saquon, and it looks like the defense knows the play call beforehand and tackles him for a loss. 3rd and long, dump off to Saquon, who comes up short of the first. WTF is that? I can explain the offensive scheme with my point about Hurts above, but why is this the series play call late in the 3rd qrt down by two scores? Ok, if Hurts only wants to throw go-balls, at least call that. Maybe it will draw a PI or something.
  • Or maybe say, "Sorry Jalen, but what we are running to make you comfortable, isn't working." Run more under-center play action. Run more presnap motion. Stop lining up in 2x2 predictable formations. Run more mesh, crossers, and plays in the middle of the field. So what if Hurts isn't comfortable with that stuff? Run it anyway and force him to grow into it. By designing the offense solely around his preferences, it's making the rest of the offensive players miserable. another example - They run zero screen passes. Again, because Jalen doesn't like to. fukk that. Run it anyway.
Stoutland:
  • He is not only the OL Coach but the run game coordinator. He got all the love and praise for Mailata, Becton, and how well the line plays overall. But the putrid run game also has to fall on him. He coordinates it. Howie selects the guys he wants. His OL is getting pushed around. Can't block for shyt, and defensive linemen are living in the backfield! Where is the adjustment? Where are the counter moves?
Vic Fangio and the defense:
  • Similar to Stoutland above, he is pretty much untouchable when it comes to criticism. And for good reason after last year. His unit, along with Stoutland's run game, carried the team. Similar to Stoutland, he also has to shoulder the blame for a lackluster defense so far. I get that the DEs aren't great. I get that Ringo at CB2 isn't ideal. Or that Carter and Mitchell were out. But the Giants were playing a rookie QB, two to three backup OLmen, and missing their best two WRs. There is no excuse on earth for this unit to get pushed around like they did last night—zero pass rush. The LBs are getting bulldozed in the run game. Plain vanilla man coverage against a rookie QB. Zero discipline from the rushers to keep Dart in the pocket. Poor tacking in general. WTF? And again, what was the adjustment? Offense hands you the lead, and you let Dart march back down to extend your lead into the 2nd half. Need big stops in the 2nd half? Nope, let them stay on the field. Need to generate pressure? Nope, can't do it. This defense right now doesn't do anything well.
Howie Roseman
  • As I have said many times. When Howie has a good offseason, the team does great. When he misses, he misses badly, and this is the result. Letting Slay, Isiah Rodgers, Sweat, Milton, and Becton all go seemed like the right moves because everyone assumed the guys waiting in the wings, like Ringo, Ojomo, Hunt, Steen, etc., were ready to take the next step. Plus, Howie would replenish through the draft. Well, none of it has worked out. Nolan Smith is hurt, and the other pass rushers are getting zero pass rush. And they didn't draft an EDGE in a loaded class. Steen is decent in pass pro, but nowhere near the run blocker Becton was. He was opening up huge holes for Saquon, whereas Steen is missing blocks on counters and other plays.
  • I had high hopes for Ringo, too, but he stinks. Why sign Adoree Jackson when they could have kept Rodgers? Isiah Rodgers should have been brought back. He didn't sign for much in Minnesota, and he is a legit CB2. They needed a legit proven FA DE or draft one high. They didn't even take a DL until the 4th when they took a 26-year-old DT who only got on the field yesterday due to injuries.
  • If Howie gets all the love for his savvy cap moves, trades, and when draft picks pan out, then this mess falls on him, too. So far, six games in, he has missed on almost all his big moves this offseason. Ojulari sucks. Uche is just ok. The pass rusher on the team is a 10-year vet, Zadarius Smith, whom they signed after the first week. To make up for it, Vic is having to blitz far more than he ever has. CB 2 is a huge weakness, and Vic is using DeJean as CB 2 in base packages to cover it up, but that takes DeJean away from what he does best.
  • Not even sure what he can do now to fix these messes.

I don't know what I'm talking about when my critiques of Jalen have been throwing over the middle, throwing with anticipation, and not running play action under C

Called it all out for the past few yrs

I just want Jalen to read the def, be decisive & accurate

AJ & Smitty have a right to be pissed...Saquon does too

Why aren't we throwing screens against these defenses that are overplaying the run

Why aren't we running more spacing concepts against zones

I want to see more digs and shallow crosses vs man

Nick is being arrogant again with the vanilla offense in the reg season, trying to save the good play design for the postseason

We gotta be and do better

  • Not even sure what he can do now to fix these messes.

is this the breh @thashiek on another forum? :ohhh: :pachaha:

definitely some valid points, especially the bolded. the first part has always been his biggest flaw in the NFL. he never throws with anticipation, doesn't trust his arm with certain tight 1-2 second "NFL open" windows & ignoring the middle of the field, although he started to get better with that this year. lets not create the narrative that dudes have been running wide tf open all season long outside of last night and parts of week 5 though, because the all 22 shows that definitely hasn't been the case. his flaws are super glaring right now because his biggest throwing strength which is his deep ball accuracy, has been uncharacteristically bad the past 3 weeks.

@EzekelRAGE he needs a real OC. When Shane was here he was throwing across the middle, they said Shane was hard on him and didnt play that shyt. Watch his first year as a full starter or super bowl year.

I just think instead of developing like any coach should do their young QBs they just played to his strengths which is detrimental to his development and team. Lets be honest Nick doesnt know what the hell he is doing.

The run game is not working because the scheme is predictable, Dline just rushing the oline because they know. Previously we had zone reads and a real threat when tnrowing the ball.

Defense Howie handicapped Vic. I have nothing else to say about that. Vic is doing what he could with the talent Howie gave him. Howie dropped the ball this offseason completely like I said.

Nope, I only post here.

My footprint on the Internet has completely shrunk and my public thoughts and opinions are 100% shared on this forum. I exist nowhere else on the internet and that shyt is PEACEFUL as fukk.

I don't even look at all 22 anymore. Because after winning the Super Bowl, speaking about his deficiencies are moot points. Yea they are mostly still valid and it would be nice for him to clean up his mistakes and look the part of an elite QB, instead of just having the record of one, but that doesn't really matter to me.

The play calling narrative is going to always get me. Most fans should not be speaking about play calling, including me. There is way too much ignorance of what it takes to make a play work, for folks to lazily say with full conviction that it's the play calls fault.
