rightfully so, most casuals are ignorant as fukk. With combat sports especially, if you don't know enough to form an educated opinion, it's best to STFU. Too many people fail to realize that they should STFU :manny:

this shyt has me out :dead:...but i cosign..i cringed hard too from the time mayweather-mcgregor was announced and signed to reading the posts in the fight thread ranging from ppl being excited about that fight to thinking floyd would lose that fight because of mcgregor silly ass fighting stances and left hand....the worst was when GGG-Canelo aired later and ppl were talking about mayweather-mcgregor was better :hhh:..shyt wasnt even the best fight on its own card (shoutouts to ugas vs dulorme) or the day (cotto vs kamegai)

Mosley wasn't nearly as stiff when he was younger. He was more fluid and put combinations together better, and faster.

This would have increased his chances of knocking Floyd out. However nothing is guaranteed.
Against who willy wise, Shane was facing absolute trash cans pre Oscar(who he barely/arguably beat fight 1)

SSM is a nikka that looked completely befuddled vs Raul Marquez

I liked Shane but you have to put that talent together vs a B-level/A-Level fighters.....Even those A/B level fighters he fought that he did win he didnt appear dominate one bit, either lucky kos, or flat out gifts

That whole situation made me appreciate Mayweather even more. Showed that he had a legit chin and that when touched and hurt he still had the ring smarts to cover and hold to weather the storm. Then the way he bounced back and stepped up the aggressiveness showed he could take it another level when needed. The one thing I wish we got to see more of is fighters really challenging Mayweather and bringing more of that side out of him.

'real' boxing fans seem like the snobbiest sports fans

im not saying they are wrong, but they talk down on casuals more than other groups of sports fans
That's because what defines success or talent in combat sports is so much more subjective than stick and ball sports. All you have to do in a sports argument is point to stats to eliminate a lot of insane comparisons and statements. Then the nuance of the game for the tougher discussions.

The second you see someone saying some dumb shyt and they don't know the numbers as a starting point it's simple to educate them. If someone started saying some crazy shyt like Michael Redd was better than Kobe in the 00's you'd be able to pump the brakes with the quick facts and only a lunatic would press further. Now, when someone obviously knows their basics, then the educated conversations.

In combat sports, someone starts up with the dumb shyt and where do you even begin explaining why what they're saying isn't just wrong, it's a non-starter?

Other day somebody told me Micky Ward would beat Floyd Mayweather.

Combat sports casuals believe in the most cartoonish shyt. Moreso than any other casual. And most times they're serious fans of another sport or two so they really think they're right and double down on foolishness.

Combat sports are sports were you really have to be paying attention to the details and studying the game to even discuss the simplest shyt. Some people don't even understand weight classes and want to debate matchups with you

I was finishing some chicken wings and missed it but my whole house erupted
Wasnt worse than my nikka Manny finally giving that average mexican JMM the ass whooping of his life, im thinking JMM has about 30 sec left in him bloodied , head swole looking like he took a gun shot to head, stream freezes like the final scene on the sopranos......comes back on, I see JMM celebrating...... Im like we celebrating one knockdown in four fights out here, Manny kicked his ass :dahell:, then to seen Manny slumped under the rope:deadmanny:........:krs:

Still kicking myself I didnt order this one after fight 3 fukkery and missed out on boxing history, in spite of what I felt about JMM average ass, JMM cheating and how that ruined Floyd vs Manny:beli:

All of that is beside the point. Because despite who Shane fought, at age 38 he still rocked Mayweather harder than anybody else has.

Was Shane faster when he was younger? Yes.

Did Shane put combinations together better when he was younger? Yes.

Shane was 38 people...not everybody can be like Bernard Hopkins.

38 is beyond the point, he had his career best performance pre floyd vs Magarito......Fighters get caught with good shots at times in spite of age

Where was these combos vs ODH, Raul Marquez, Vernon Forrest, Winky Wright, Cotto etc......I could look like prime shane if you put absolute trash cans in front of me, and absolute trashcans is what he fought pre oscar

Finally 38 my ass breh, Shane had the whole world on his back, when he jumped in the ring post JMM and called out Floyd like Floyd wouldnt fight him; only to give Shane the ass whooping of his life leaving him completely unable to pull the trigger thereafter

He stopped being that fighter since his second fight vs. ODH. He just threw away being a fighter that threw combos and from thereafter was a try to knock fighters out with one shot fighter.

I never understood why he went that route. I still don't see him even back then beating Floyd.
