'real' boxing fans seem like the snobbiest sports fans
im not saying they are wrong, but they talk down on casuals more than other groups of sports fans
That's because what defines success or talent in combat sports is so much more subjective than stick and ball sports. All you have to do in a sports argument is point to stats to eliminate a lot of insane comparisons and statements. Then the nuance of the game for the tougher discussions.
The second you see someone saying some dumb shyt and they don't know the numbers as a starting point it's simple to educate them. If someone started saying some crazy shyt like Michael Redd was better than Kobe in the 00's you'd be able to pump the brakes with the quick facts and only a lunatic would press further. Now, when someone obviously knows their basics, then the educated conversations.
In combat sports, someone starts up with the dumb shyt and where do you even begin explaining why what they're saying isn't just wrong, it's a non-starter?
Other day somebody told me Micky Ward would beat Floyd Mayweather.
Combat sports casuals believe in the most cartoonish shyt. Moreso than any other casual. And most times they're serious fans of another sport or two so they really think they're right and double down on foolishness.
Combat sports are sports were you really have to be paying attention to the details and studying the game to even discuss the simplest shyt. Some people don't even understand weight classes and want to debate matchups with you
