When you think about it its kinda funny how both NY and LA hip hop ended up falling off and taking a backseat to other regions

I really don't think its an issue of geography.

If you study this shyt everyone in the past decade or so is a child of the internet.

they site all there sources from looking thru a screen and jacking beats off YT and rapping into a laptop in their bedroom was how they got in the game off Soundcloud.

None of these guys who have blown up in the past decade who are authentic were really molded.

Its obvious who the plants are tho :mjlol:

Most cats now can get their music out more independently now due to the internet…

That’s a blessing.

On an another note, Hip Hop was better when cats actually got out and earned a hit. For one, you definitely had to be verified and stamped as well as paying dues. U definitely also had to hone your skills and be musicall

Folks also stayed in their lane for one.

In the era of Suge Night, u wasn’t gonna be rapping no street shyt and not be checked about it.

Even the R&B singers had some street in em

Most SoundCloud rappers aren’t gonna last because their music isn’t soul food.

The streets dictated things back then as well. In the era of Suge Night, cats were going to come and see you.

MC Hammer knew his lane and stayed in it. He was more thugged out than most of rappers in the 90s. U know you’re thoro when u have Redman apologizing and Ice Cube tucking his tail between his leg.

One thing about Finesse he gon hate on his own city :mjpls:

Shout out to the youngings who created their own waves and brought back the city from purgatory while the old guard was pushing the Troy Aves, Vados, Saigons, Uncle Murdas, Mainos of the world
dance-sturdy.gif

Uncle Murda is doin better in this era than back then. He came out at the wrong time though. Jay-Z did co-sign him

Saigon didn’t want to sell out to Atlantic which was understandable. He didn’t look like a guy to be snapping his fingers.

A lot of stuff reminds me of Dead Prez.

Maino had a few hits.

These younger cats are bird chested and weak. Saigon would have punched one of them.

See the thing is these artists without the "suge knights" are prospering today.

Theres a lot of fake suge knights running around fukking the game up.

They are the ones pumping up wack Fugazi artists.

Wack100 is one but he’s following the Suge blueprint…
He’ll “extort” nikkas after getting close to them.

Who would’ve knew that the Driver for Suge Knight would end up taking his spot years later???

If Suge was around, the young cats would probably blast at him.

The only people that feared Suge was West Coast cats and executives.

But then again, Suge respected cats that wasnt soft. He didn’t have to punk MC Hammer because he was a real one and not a pump faking fraud like Dre and Snoop.

Nobody wanted to hear that west coast or NY babble anymore :manny:

The South took over completely

The South made good riding music…

Hell, they made tunes that u can have fun.

West Coast music was too real. Spice 1 and MC Eiht had a lot of laidback beats though. U can play them all Summer and Fall.

East Coast as well. Only difference was that their music was built for cold, blustery environments. Imagine being in 1996 slanging some krills wearing a bubblegoose and some Levi jeans running from the Police in Timbs.

The south (Atlanta) has had strangle hold on urban music for 20+ years and no one admits it.
