Where did 50 go wrong (the 48 laws of power)

y'all are overthinking things. in hip-hop, everyone gets a 4-5 years run on the top, then its over. Jay and Eminem have thus far been the only exceptions.

U definitly right?rap fans get tired of nikkas regardless of if they fall off or not....50 did actually fall off and changed his delivery and style up after he got hot.....he had that bouncy Pac flow over beats that weren't to east coastt when he blew and kinda switched up.

Worst thing id say he did was alienated himself from his fanbase.....he started out as the underdog who repped for the streets and morphed into business man who is a tyrant trying to hold people down

He shoulda milked that underdog role for all its worth....what Jeezy has done with his career is what 50 shoulda done,he obviously ain't broke no more but he make music for the streets and that's all he concerned with.....no cute crossover joints to get the pop stations.

With that said that's easier to do when u not coming off diamond record sales and have to live up to that...had he stayed true to the streets and not alienated everybody by talkin down like sum bytch azz corporate nikka he might still be relevant MAYBE.

But maybe his inspiration was the streets and without bein in em he can't do what he once did...he is less talented rappin than Jeezy but he wuz competent and just entertaining on the mic more importantly

Nas and 50 actually mke music that's decent to the ears.


Jays said fukk hip hop and his core fan base decade ago and in that decade he's dropped at half a dozen album. That's a lot of pollution.

50 blew up when people still bought CDs. Not even Drake or Lil Wayne can go double platinum. Name one rapper not named Eminem that can go multi-platinum. Very few rappers are even going platinum.

Three Reasons:

1. Alot of the dope shyt that he made got wasted on mixtapes that nobody heard.
Even though he claims to be the one who made mixtapes popular, he wasn't the one who actually brought them to the mainstream. They really didn't get popular like that within the general population until around the time Dedication dropped. I'm from the south so my opinion may be skewed but dudes down here weren't bumping G-Unit Radios even when he was hot. EVERYBODY had Dedication 2 though. the average fan of rappers nowadays are more aware of their work Wale fans know about Mixtape about nothing, J Cole fans know about The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights. Most people who were fans of 50 back then don't really know about Mixtape 50.

Only the real heads know about the stuff like No Mercy No Fear, the G-Unit Radios, and later Sincerely Yours, Southside War Angel and Forever King.

2. He became a caricature of himself.
He started what he believed the "general public" wanted instead of just getting in and making dope shyt. Mixtape 50 was basically the uncut raw version having fun in the booth. His last two albums are basically watered down versions of the first two. Listen to this shyt right here


this ain't 50 right here, it's a carbon copy of what he thinks or thought we wanted him to be.

The real 50 gave us that hard shyt with a touch of wit and charm that made you root for him. The music was authentic because that's really where he was in life. Not just mindlessly killing on record for the sake of "aggressive content".

3. G-Unit failed to produce another star, leaving him to carry the load by himself.
Lloyd Banks and Young Buck failed to blow up like many thought they would. Some of this could be blamed on him burning bridges and it was also due to these dudes just not really being willing to work hard enough.
