5 years ago they traded one of the greatest players in franchise history and started a complete rebuild with several years of being one of the worst teams in the league.

But now it looks they have hit a ceiling of being a first round and out team. Their best player is old KD who is still good but not on the level of the actual superstars in the west. Everyone one else has zero shot of ever becoming a superstar level player.

Should they blow it up again this offseason?

On one hand you are asking an awful lot of a 37 year old. I think it is entirely possible that we overestimated how good this squad was. You have young teams that take the leap, and you have young teams that sneak up on everybody. I feel like the Rockets were the latter. Having a 37 year as your go to guy when you tryna contend for chips is just not a smart move, no matter who it is. And we been overestimating how impactful KD is.

That said, KD asked for this (again) and struggling with basic ass double teams is not a good look for him, his teammates, or his coach. I have had my questions about Ime since his grand strategy was to go under screens vs Steph in the Finals :what: :dahell:.

Their hope going foward is to do what Phoenix did and flip KD for quality young pieces when he inevitably asks out.

They don't have a PG. They're going to run it back with FVV healthy(hopefully) and hope for a better result.

Why not sign Aaron Brooks or DJ Augustine? :pachaha: . Why not give CP3 a run? This was always going to be an issue when FVV got hurt. Buyout market is fried. I have no idea why they thought they could get away with this.

I think they need to build around Reed, Sengun & Amen...they need a 3&D shotblocker to pair with Sengun in the paint...and they need a Jalen Williams type player who can shoot a lil, defend, score in iso & facilitate

Another yr of improvement from Reed & Amen, I think that's the longterm backcourt pairing

We said this about the Celtics 5+ years ago. They have to stick it through. Injuries happen and the could get lucky.

They got high off their own shyt when they improved from 22 wins to 41 the following season, and thought that strategy would be enough to keep on progressing, not realizing that rah-rah shyt can only take you so far. At some point you've got to coach actual basketball, otherwise, you'll eventually turn back into a pumpkin. It was obvious a long damn time ago that Ime either doesn't know and/or doesn't care too much for the offensive side of things, despite posters on here trying to convince themselves otherwise.

It should've been abundantly clear when they couldn't even get past that Larry Holmes ass Warriors squad last playoffs with a healthy talent advantage that something wasn't right with the path they were traveling on.

Getting Durant was a win now move.
A discussion needs to be had about Ime. too many coaches in the league are getting results from equivalently mid rosters, with the biggest example ironically being pre-Tatum return Boston, for the Rockets to try and make a roster construction excuse
