Where do you rank Mark Henry's hall of pain run for all time monster heel pushes and work?

The monster heel is my favourite character type, so I rate Henry my 3rd GOAT behind Rock and Kane.

Due to his sheer bulk he was never that great in the ring, but he was decent enough and his promo game was :ohlawd:

Only better monster heel I've seen is prime Kane. To this day part of me pops when 'somebody gonna get they ass kicked' drops.. even tho Henry only come out to get mollywhopped these days.

My boy Strowgawd got next.

The most dominant heel run outside of Lesnar. He ran over Khali, Show, Kane, Sheamus, and Orton.....convincingly at that.

But if Henry never got injured we would not have gotten the 18 second match that changed everything.
Was a shining light in a very dark time in WWE. Mark carried to company on his back. :wow:

One of my favourite Henry moments just at the start of his run.

2:20 the ref is :whoa: when he jumps out the ring.

2:30 "when I charge for air you keep your bill paid" :damn:

Great video. And them ad-libs are fire.

The 'he's totally out of control and couldn't care less about whatever is planned for this event and only cares about completely annihalating people he does not like' chaotic energy and that he genuinely seemed like he just did this on his own and that nobody from the executives knew how to control him made this such a genius run.

Race plays a role. The white woman looking away like 'but, we always get our way, do something' is definitely a reflection of how many people saw this - which made the unlikeliness of an angry black man becoming a champion by beating up popular white men even bigger - which makes Vince and whoever booked these matches (and how the other wrestlers worked) even more genius.

I know it's easy to say 'it used to be so much better' but from this point of view it really was way better back then: this felt like real rage and anger.

Compare this to The New Day (no disrespect, love seeing young brothers get money) or Reigns, Ambrose etc and it's 'real anger' vs 'quite obvious acting'.
