I've been trying to track down the demo for the "2000" album for years.

I liked it much better than what ended up being released. There were a lot of dusty loops, so I wonder if Elektra made him abandon that sound. He had Sweet Tee/Suga on an ill slow joint, and even had Alamo rapping on a solo.

The only tracks from the demo that made the final were "Play It Cool" & "2000".

"Black Family Day" was on the album, as well as this Lord Finesse banger, but Finesse added another sample in the hook on the demo version

Another of the songs is on this Clue tape, track 15. It's the first song on the demo.
DJ Clue - Spring Pt. 1

I had a nasty bootleg cassette copy of the demo, it's long gone now. It would be incredible if this ever popped up on the net.

If anyone knows DJ Alamo, please ask him about this. The world should have heard this stuff.

He's actually from the 80s. He was in Masters of Ceremonies before Brand Nubian. He has had a long ass run.
Somewhat related watch the Brand Nubian Unsung ep this Sunday.

I feel like you may have heard the "2000" demo that I'm talking about.

The '2000' album was :banderas::banderas::banderas:

Dude was also responsible for a couple of style trends in the game too.

The 'Alpine' Polo Rugby he wore on Yo MTV Raps is still :wow:to me. I feel like he was ahead of the curve rocking Hilfiger too.
Hilfiger used to pay dude to rock his sh!t.. and, he wasnt the only rapper getting paid to..

Hilfiger was somewhat immersed in hip-hop culture back in the day, but thats an entirely different thread/subject..

Fair enough - as a kid from London - he might have been the first person I was aware of rocking it tuff. Probably because he was being paid to wear it. :ehh:

Puba, Cl Smooth, G Rap, Kane and Heavy D. One of the greatest posse cuts of all time and Rakim was actually supposed to rhyme where CLs part is but something happened so CL replaced Rakim. Pubas last 2 lines was supposed to say 'Rakim' but 'CL Smooth' was scratched in at the last minute.
