and I completely agree, I think Budden does very well at every aspect of emceeing though. We just disagree on that point.

I don't see it. Good lyricist. Meh at everything else. Basically his whole career, imo. And he's been putting out some unbelievably lackluster music over the last 5 years or so. But we'll just agree to disagree.

Mix Tapes will never trump albums ever
I don't know man.

Albums usually are a direct result of someone attempting to reach a larger audience through old white label exes who don't give the artist all their creative control most times.

I say mixtapes definitely count being their own bodies of work.

before the Slaughterhouse album, dude was legit in my top five DOA. Actually, in my top 3.

Work Rate/Music output was excellent (first album+countless mixtape songs+ mood music series+ordinary love shyt)

Bars on top of bars on top of bars (but who would get outbarred by folks like Jay, Nas, Lupe, etc. but they don't have his work output and consistency)

incredibly consistent (only MC I can think of with more songs on such a high level is Styles P, who releases subpar ALBUM tracks despite his blistering level of mixtapes)

Incredibly diverse (does "backpack" sounding shyt, battle shyt, club shyt, flossy shyt, introspective shyt, storytelling shyt. other MCs do, as well. but not as consistent, often or on the same level)

Great pound for pound "battle" record (game, all of G-Unit, Hov, Prodigy, Ran, lost to Saigon) Only rappers with better battle/diss records are Pac (self explanatory),. Hov (subliminal disses plus "Takeover"), Nas (subliminal disses+all of StillMatic), Cam (Who doesn't give a shyt who you are) but their wins and losses were higher profile.

Only things, IMHO, that he was outclassed in were popularity (always called an "internet rapper") sales, "superman" status (Joey can be lame as fukk, which can be off putting to the grown kids who want all their rappers to be boring invincible villains) and influence.... all of which I care nothing about, but I understand why others do.

Unfortunately, I rate MCs by how they CURRENTLY rate to other MCs (you're not going to catch Kane and Rakim in my top 5 unless they drop a song TODAY with verses more entertaining that the last entertaining song by folks in my current).

So honestly, I don't know. :to:

Nas is the GOAT right now.

Running like a cheetah right now, unfolding scrolls and all, you repetitive motherfukker.

Why though? Nobody has stated why they believe Budden is more deserving to be over any of those MCs I listed yet. What puts Budden over Young Jeezy? Because he's a better lyricist? I'm sure you believe he's a better lyricist than Chuck D and Kool Moe Dee too but does that make him a greater all time MC?

What makes him "a far better MC than half" the list?

yeah. because when it comes down to the actual aspects of MC'ing and not things like "influence", "impact", "personal life" and "how much money they made", they really aren't seeing him.

Not really sure how you can call any of the above wack, unless you're just not a fan of dude and his music; which is fine. But that's 6 GREAT projects IMO, which is a lot more than most artists have. Not to mention the dope songs on his albums, Slaughterhouse tracks, and unreleased stuff.

shyt, AZ is in my top 5 of all time and you'd be hard pressed to convince me that even he has 6 projects that can match up with the above.

Top 20, clown shyt via Twitter and other real life shyt, but that window is a portion of the regular Joe shyt people can relate too within the music... I'll be playing the Clinton sparks version of whatever it takes forever

N!gga please. Nobody was even considering "personal life" in none of this sh!t. Budden just better than a few of them as a lyricist. What other aspect of MCing the n!gga excelling at? GTFOH with the Budden d!ckriding. Dude has zero classics and one song that anybody outside of a Budden stan can recite a lyric from. That's really all that needs to be said in here.

this is what I'm saying. dude does what he does (MC'img) too well for you to be a fan and not say he was in running for GOAT at one time.

If you aren't a fan, cool, cause we're all entitled to our opinions.

But you'd have to add all sorts of intangibles that have no bearing on his skill level to say there's many MC's that are better.

just say "Im not a fan of his work at all so I can't say he's good" and be done with it.

Just curious,@tybo , here's a list of 50 MC's off the top of my dome (no particular order). Which one(s) of these you believe need to be bumped off the list for Joe Budden?:

Big Daddy Kane
Ghostface
Scarface
KRS
Big Pun
Jay-Z
TI
Lil Wayne
Young Jeezy
DMX
Raekwon

Styles P
Chuck D
Ice Cube
Mos Def
Slick Rick
Masta Ace
Twista
Kool Moe Dee

Melle Mel
Too Short
DJ Quik

He's a better EMCEE than these guys :obama:
MF Doom
Canibus
Masta Ace
DJ Quik
Young Jeezy
TI
Lil Wayne
Styles P

This one is questionable:patrice:
Twista

He's better than him but he's a legend so :manny:
Kool Moe Dee

Now, some of these guys might make more marketable songs, pick better beats, or have more "swag" than Budden but none of them rap better!!!!
