Where Does The Hate For Motorcyclists Come From? I Don’t Get It

Let me start by saying I’m NOT a motorcyclist. I don’t own one, never have, and don’t think I ever will. But the whole “I hate motorcyclists!” crowd has always struck me as odd because, why? They literally don’t do anything but get run over by idiots in cars not paying attention.

Look at some of the above quotes, where does such deep seeded hatred for them come from? Is it because they sometimes speed and weave in and out of traffic? Hmm that sounds like your everyday Dodge Charger driver to me, not sure why motorcyclists are singled out for it? The only difference between the car idiots who do it and the motorcyclists who do it is when one crashes they kill people, when the other crashes it may damage a vehicle but it only kills THEM. So why all the hate?

I’ve never watched the news and saw “drunk cyclists hits and kills innocent motorist”…but you hear COUNTLESS stories like that from car drivers. If a motorcyclist is drunk and crashes, he hurts/kills himSELF. Also, I have never heard of a motorcyclist being the cause of some tragic accident.


The motorcyclist hatred makes no sense, so here’s my theory on where it all actually comes from-

I think it’s just people who are JEALOUS, even if they aren’t consciously aware of said jealousy. The motorcyclist is doing something you’d NEVER be brave enough to do. The motorcyclist is living life on the edge with every commute, enjoying his little thrills. He’s living that aspect of the “American Dream” that you always said you’d live when you grew up.

Instead, now your biggest daily thrill is sneaking an extra 2mins of break time from your boss without being noticed.

So yeah, I think the hatred is born of a deep seeded, subconscious ENVY. That’s the only thing that can explain it because, again, motorcyclists don’t even do anything dangerous to motorists. They CANT, because they’re on friggin motorcycles.

Yeah, reckless behavior on a motorcycle could potentially cause a frightened motorist to swerve or react wrongly, and crash.

BUT ITS ALL HYPOTHETICAL. IT LITERALLY NEVER HAPPENS. When motorcyclists crash and burn from doing something dumb they kill themSELVES.

Why do people have such a rage driven hatred for them? It’s unbelievable.

Sorry this is long but breh, there are brehs in that other thread wishing death on cyclists, making you hellish accident scenarios for them, and just all types of stuff that goes way beyond driver grievances. The venom in some of the posts in that thread isn’t even reserved for drunk drivers, people who hog the left lane, people who text and drive and kill people- nope- it’s reserved for MOTORCYCLISTS, the most fragile least impactful motorists out there

There HAS to be something deeper to it, for people who harbor such sentiments. And I think it’s just deeply rooted jealousy. I think motorcyclists remind them of every fear in life they’ve ever been too afraid to tackle and then comes this motorcycle guy flying by, grabbing fear by the horns and making it his btch.

It sends some people into a rage.

Because there are two types of riders. that fukk it up for everyone.

The teenage daredevils in the crotch rockets.

They commonly seen popping wheelies, doing annoying revs at red lights, driving 150 on the highway, and crashing out spectactorally. People are referencing this guy specifically when they say motorcycles are dangerous. They are if you ride like him.


Then there is the wannabe 1%er

This guy thinks the road belongs to him, and road rage on people trying to pass. knock off rearview mirrors if you cut him off. And drive by you giving you the finger. Commonly seen riding a harley and wearing leather. They are the biggest aholes on the road. He also has the extremely loud pipes that disturbs the whole neighborhood And they don't even wave to other bikers.


People with limited cognitive ability like to generalize in order to account for it, So they act like these two are all bikers, But its not.
There are two more.
The retired dad biker, known as the weekend warrior.

This guy only rides on sunny weekends around town. Doesn't bother anyone. doesn't go over the speed limit, just likes to get out and cruise sometime. If he could afford he'd be on a boat fishing instead. He just goes to the local bar once a week during the summer and then goes home.


and finally the every day commuter.

They just got a motorcycle because its more affordable than a car, and much better gas mileage. They are going to work or running errands. Not trying to show off or anything. They generally go the speed limit too. usually have quieter low cc bikes. because city traffic doesn't require a bike capable of breaking 200mphs
Only thing dangerous about them is sometimes you will see them riding in the rain or riding with a bunch of stuff loaded on the bike, because this is their primary mode of transportation. Not just a hobby. But otherwise they are super safe drivers and aren't bothering anybody or getting themselves killed.

This is what I’ve always noticed. Motorcyclists are the actual “safe” drivers(their lives depend on it), NOT the cellphone-in-hand car drivers who hate them so much

And y’all have to stop being manipulated by these video clips showing motorcyclists road raging and kicking people’s mirrors off, and then something unfortunate happens to them, and it gets labeled as “karma”.

I’ve been living and driving long enough to know that if you see a motorcyclist pissed off at some four wheeler, the four wheeler did something stupid could’ve seriously injured/killed the motorcyclist.

Add to it the hatred when we are ‘slowly’ driving thru traffic. The beeps I get make no sense… then they will try to block me, I either wait for more space, or go to the next opening and proceed to go around them while I whistle minding my business and they are stuck in the same spot. A bIg reason for bikes in the city or highly populated areas is for instances like this; to not sit in the bs traffic.
