Where does "You don't know my name" rank on Kanye beats/production?

TOKYO, Taitou-Ku.
This is pretty much my personal milestone of the quintessential early 00s Kanye production...

Signature...

Signature Xplosive drums from Chronic 2000 that Ye abused. Great sample edit, though.

Alicia Keys laced that loop perfectly in you don't know my name. How some of you didn't know that Ye did that beat is beyond me.:why:

Dreams beat was ass. Hated when Ye would just put those Congo drums on rapid fire. It's already bad enough Game's skills only consisted of referencing names at the time.

That Brandy one is classic Ye to me.

This thread is ass.

One of the greatest beats of all time. And nikkas clearly don’t know the difference between what a “loop” and “chop” is.

You can’t 2-4 bar “loop” any section of the Main Ingredient song and come up with the same beat that Kanye did.

Ye pitched that sample up three semitones and chopped the hell out of it. He completely rearranged that sample. On top of layering it with those lush strings and providing that crazy breakdown from 2:54 - 4:46:

Remake of the song illustrating the chops and the strings:

If you ask me this is definitely Ye’s finest moment. He was in an entirely different zone during this era and tracks like this really helped distinguish him from his contemporaries (Bink!, Just Blaze, The Heatmakerz, etc...). They weren’t producing songs like this.

Funny thing about this song is when Ye was a kid he told his teacher he was gonna produce songs for Janet Jackson which had his teacher like :dahell: :mjlol: and then he grew up and he DID produce a song for Janet Jackson :wow:
Post link or interview. That’s nuts!

How is it a flip?
Kanye sampled Main Ingredient’s “Let Me Prove My Love to You” for Alicia Keys’ “You Don’t Know My Name”
go to 1:40 thru about 2:10

then he sampled his own sample and added the drums from OutKast’s “Player’s Ball” then he gave this beat to Wayne

This that classic ‘Ye shyt :ohlawd:

that chop up the soul kanye shyt :myman:

I thought Comfortable was babyface on keys and ye on the drums. I don’t hear the sample. Just strings. Tf?

“You don’t know my name” is a classic of course, but when I heard “let me prove my love to you” for the first time, can’t lie, I lost a little appreciation for what kanye did..
Kinda like the very first time hearing “I wanta do something freaky to you” and realizing that dre barely did anything.. still doesn’t take away from the songs tho

what i didn't like about the video is not with Kanye but Alicia Keys playing the piano and shouting that "How" in the video.
I thought that was all herself doing that. Like the piano arrangement and stuff.

I didn't even know it was just a sample.

But it's still a wonderful song.
