Branch became Brady's number one/deep-threat receiver at New England and caught damn near 1,000 yards in his final year in NE (after his SBMVP season). That's why Seattle gave dude that contract.

And he set a Super Bowl record, by the way.

Funny, because the last 4 SB winners are:
Broncos-AFC
Patriots-AFC
Seahawks-NFC
Ravens-AFC

:stopitslime:

Here are Branch's yardage numbers in New England
489
803
454
998

Those are far from star numbers...average as hell. Maybe a decent #3 WR

His numbers in Seattle
725
661
433
437

Men lie, women lie, Numbers dont

He was a decent player that finessed a star contract out of a great game

Okay, but the Patriots were 1 game away from the SB in 10 of the last 16 AFC championship games. And they have gone to 6 straight. They would be undefeated if Brady wasn't suspended. Which I thought was a stupid suspension anyway. But my point about the weakness of the AFC still stands.

Weak doesn't mean anomalies don't pop up every now and then.

Kinda dated but: The AFC North has been the NFL's best division in past decade

again dated:

By Division (top 4)
AFC North — 334 wins (8.35 wins per team per season)

NFC East — 333 wins (8.33 wins per team)

AFC East — 328 wins (8.2 wins per team)

AFC South — 320 wins (8 wins per team)

So, if anything, this all demonstrates that it's not only small white guys that the Patriots found.

And if you want more black players that became stars under Brady, try Troy Brown and Ben Coates.

Okay, good stats, I'll give you that. But I'm going to throw one back, since 2001, only 3 NFC teams haven't made it the to NFC championship game.

Dallas
Detroit
Washington

Compared to 8 AFC teams spanning the same time frame.
Now this is really dated data I will admit to that. But it really illustrates that in the AFC its been New England, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and maybe Denver for the majority of the time.

Trent cold tho:lolbron::lolbron::lolbron:

From that article:

That has been a sound strategy, as a pass in Taylor's direction rarely hits the ground no matter the trajectory. Among wide receivers who have played at least 50 percent of their team's snaps, Taylor has the third-lowest drop rate in the nation at 3.15 percent, according to Pro Football Focus.

:dahell:

There's WR's out there catching 97% of the passes thrown in their vicinity? :ooh:

I was stanning TO for far too long....my entire perspective is distorted. :whew:

He did trade for Moss, even took a chance on Ocho.

And Stevan Ridley

And Laurence Maloney

And Ben Coates

And Terry Glenn

And Shawn Jefferson

And Dave Meggett

But please, don't interrupt the coli from its anti-Patriots/Boston is racist circle jerk. :allgood:

There are two (and one possible) stars on this list:

- Ben Coates. Yes. Ben Coates was a star...but he was a star in the Bill Parcells era, not with Belichick - so he's moot in this thread.

- Terry Glenn was a star...but he came into the league a star, because he was a star at Ohio State.

- Dave Meggett is the possible - but he got fame playing for the Giants, the Patriots didn't make him shine.

Those other dudes are were not stars.

The interesting thing about this thread is that Beli is a defensive coach. They have the perfect mixture of things working for them. The offensive line coach that went into retirement last season came back to coach for them again. Dante Scarnecchia is the GOAT offensive line coach. Anybody that knows anything about football is to build from the ball then out. No point in having a great QB in most cases if your QB is picking himself off of the ground all the time.

Case in point.

Patriot Sacks Allowed in 2015: 38 (Dave DeGuglielmo as O-Line Coach)
Patriot Sacks Allowed in 2016: 24 (Dante Scarnecchia as O-Line Coach)

The above is coaching brehs.

Having a great offensive line allows Brady time to go through his progressions and see the second, third or fourth read. Especially when they are doing slants and hitches. There is a system there. Josh McDaniels is a really good play caller as well. Bill Belichick is at the helm of it all, but there are some really smart football people there in Foxboro with him.
