I got a lil over 20 hours played and am level 51, world level 6. Playing exclusively in Solo mode on Recommended (no auto-parry/timestop) on PS5 Pro
I lowkey almost gave up on it early but I've been playing daily. Every time im almost over this game I figure out how something works and I get hyped/inspired to go further
. This game somehow manages to remind me of Ghost of Yotei, Souls/Sekiro, Yakuza, AC: Shadows, Rise of the Ronin, Yakuza, Final Fantasy 16, Fallout 4, and Jade Empire all at once
. Once you have multiple mystic arts to counter certain enemy types, combat leans more towards FF16 than Souls IMO. I would prefer more weighty-feeling combat but it's serviceable to me. If combat/stealth were as strong as a FromSoft game or even Nioh/Rise of the Ronin I would be binging this game like no other. Exploration is fun I think the world is actually interesting and the writing has its own charm to it. The side quests and activities are very yakuza-esque
The amount of currencies, systems, and progression trees is overwhelming but at least resources feel fairly generous once you learn what everything does. There's been multiple times now where I've played for hours and leveled up several times without leveling up one of the many progression systems and when I finally figure it out, I have hella resources stacked to upgrade everything. It's also not uncommon to have a ton of unclaimed rewards buried amongst all the various menus. They do at least have an in-game guide and will directly tell you how to aquire everything but it's a fukking lot to learn. don't even worry about figuring it out all at once just play and take it bit by bit and it'll eventually click.
My biggest gripes about the game are the graphical inconsistencies and situational performance issues. The first region is fine but the second major region has a big ass city that's has notable texture/object pop-in and occasional frame dips, and a lot of textures in general will randomly load super low res or are just inexplicably shytty. There's times where this game looks like a AAA release and other times a character's shirt will look like PS3 graphics. They've already said they plan to address PS performance in an upcoming update but those things cheapen the experience. Combat is mostly easy to me but sometimes you'll fight a major boss and all of the sudden the parry timing feels totally off. In my experience Bosses at my level are either fairly easy or a random difficulty spike. That plus combat overall just being OK to me makes me not really care about playing Legend mode too much, although I may try that with a separate character in the future when they allow you to have more than one (they mentioned they're working on this).
I feel like if you're into Destiny/Warframe type games and ARPGs, this is at the very least worth keeping tabs on. This is a pretty strong F2P offering for only being 2 weeks in. If they keep building on this and refining it over time, it's gonna do well. This is my first ever Chinese game and these devs are on one, I gotta give them their due
Gonna fukk around and get a compound in the city to build and decorate next
