Pun himself before he passed that Yeeeah Baby was an attempt to branch out in order to reach a much wider audience. Wasn't supposed to be anything like Capital Punishment

Fans tend to pigeonhole artists..

He had to make an album like that just to give himself some breathing room as an artist..the backlash would have forced him to go back to the drawing board

I do think he would have finetuned his next album enough to legitimately keep both sides of the spectrum happy

we dont really know how much of Yeeeah Baby was really gonna be on his 2nd album either...it seemed like he was still working on the album when he died to me. It doesnt feel or sound like it was legit finished...

Yeaaah baby is a personal classic but that album is pretty damn lackluster...

Yeah I liked the album, but I can see why people wouldn't fukk wit it

I feel like he would eventually branch out of strictly hip-hop and maybe from doing only music in general

All i know is, replace Fat Joe with Big Pun on Ja Rule "New York" and let 50 take more shots at that nikka pun and we got entertainment. Him and 50 woulda beefed heavy.

He would have faded out just like all the other east coast rappers due to the South's take over. Stop thinking Pun would be any different.
Pun had crossover appeal and a very dynamic flow that could adapt...Pun would MURDER southern beats so I think he and cats like Biggie woulda had more traction than others as time changed because they could def adapt to their surroundings a bit.

So did Fat Joe and Ja Rule. Pun would have been just like them. That Lil Jon crunk era was taking over along with the trap sound.Heck the whole south . Pun didn't fit. He might have tried to hop on the wave like Joe and Jada but wouldn't have worked.

It woulda worked breh and it wouldnt have been nearly as corny as when Fat Joe did it.. now im not saying Pun woulda made a full album of Lil Jon beats or something but he would not sound out of place on a couple. even on Yeahh Baby he was rappin on Ruff Ryders sounding shyt and he still sounded great on it even if the beats werent that good. He woulda made it work because he was a great mc and very versatile writer. He made radio singles so he woulda found a way.
