I'm relistening to T.I's shyt right now, and it's really boring me for the most part and have no desire to listen to 99 percent of the joints again. There's only one song so far I have a desire to listen to ever again. He sounds very limited.... If you compare his topics to an artist like Nas, K-Rino, KRS-One and many others see a vast different. His flow is cool while not being amazingly impressive.
I realize now why I forgot a lot of his shyt cause it's very forgettable to me. Can't heart much creativity and artistry. His flow would be a good point, but his delivery sounds very similar on a lot of joints, not much diversity there so far. I'm finding it a struggle to listen rather than enjoyable. So I guess it's just a case of me not feeling his style. I like something that challenges me intellectually, that I can FEEL, or impresses me, or is creative, there isn't a range of shyt here that does that for me.
I don't feel he's garbage but I do feel I'm listening to something limited and even in that aspect not being incredibly effective from that perspective. There's too much name brand shyt and similar topics and songs for me to be impressed or entertained or for him to be anywhere near my G.O.A.T list. Too many great rappers for that. I hope I finish listening to the rest of his shyt again asap as it's feeling like an ordeal instead of entertainment, maybe could work in a ride as listenable but otherwise not too sure....
At least a track or two where he's switched up his flow a bit now. Still ain't saying much/anything useful though. He gets some good beats though. His subject matter sounds like a 17 year olds to me for the most part. Haven't heard many story tracks or creative tracks? Far too much drug shyt to interest me too. Gets some nice beats though. Who produces for him?
There's no way in my opinion musically T.I can be king of the south on a music level with artists like Scarface, K-Rino and Z-Ro around. I get the violence shyt but it's a bit too much, even within a street context you can delve deeper. On some tracks he's got some good lyrics while never really getting to mind blowing level, solid though. I think he thinks he's better than he is also. He has some nice little sections in some songs lyrically and flow wise but don't feel it's consistent throughout most songs.
Getting through these albums now lol, feeling some of the beats a lot. Sounds like he was inspired a lot by Jay Z, Tupac and even Scarface, but only certain aspects of their them. The music is too dumb for me sometimes personally, sometimes feels too plain. Would like to get some of these instrumentals. Overall I feel his subject matter is horrible and boring for the most part.
Doesn't feel like real shyt to me, and doesn't feel great either, feels average. But the production on some tracks is mad nice. I don't believe that one dude tried to compare that Trap Muzik album to some of the artists I mentioned projects, not even close to me. But each to their own. Shame he doesn't seem to have more songs like the guy posted who I checked, if he did I feel he would be better. But that seems to be the exception rather than the rule. He isn't always the most vocally expressive and captivating to me either. If he had more songs like Live In The Sky etc I could feel him more. Sometimes even in his slightly more meaningful tracks he lyrically goes off track though.
To conclude I don't see how a true student of Hip Hop could have him in their top 20. But respect their right to their opinion.
