Im pretty sure that I agreed that tip opened up the lane. the point is that it exploded thanks to young jeezy.

who are these tip imitators that you speak of? who raps like him?

youre from Atlanta and you never heard any jeezy imitators? wow.

nobody credits nas with blowing up Mafioso rap. like I never heard anybody credit nas for that. not even nas stanleys. horrible comparison. if anything, Mafioso started to dwindle not long after "it was written".

Jody Breeze sounded like T.I. Tango Redd also sounded like T.I. When I heard Tango on John Legend's "Used To Love You" (mixtape remix, I don't think it was official), I thought it was T.I. Jeezy also had people comparing him to T.I.

As for Jeezy imitators, people claim that Gucci, Shawty Lo, and Rocko are imitators. Gucci and Shawty Lo aren't imitators because they were already bubbling around the time Jeezy blew up. Rocko, him I could see.

As for the comparison between trap and Mafisos rap that I used, I never posted that people were saying Nas blew it up. I was saying that implying that Jeezy exploded trap rap would be equivalent of someone making that claim.

I'm relistening to T.I's shyt right now, and it's really boring me for the most part and have no desire to listen to 99 percent of the joints again. There's only one song so far I have a desire to listen to ever again. He sounds very limited.... If you compare his topics to an artist like Nas, K-Rino, KRS-One and many others see a vast different. His flow is cool while not being amazingly impressive.

I realize now why I forgot a lot of his shyt cause it's very forgettable to me. Can't heart much creativity and artistry. His flow would be a good point, but his delivery sounds very similar on a lot of joints, not much diversity there so far. I'm finding it a struggle to listen rather than enjoyable. So I guess it's just a case of me not feeling his style. I like something that challenges me intellectually, that I can FEEL, or impresses me, or is creative, there isn't a range of shyt here that does that for me.

I don't feel he's garbage but I do feel I'm listening to something limited and even in that aspect not being incredibly effective from that perspective. There's too much name brand shyt and similar topics and songs for me to be impressed or entertained or for him to be anywhere near my G.O.A.T list. Too many great rappers for that. I hope I finish listening to the rest of his shyt again asap as it's feeling like an ordeal instead of entertainment, maybe could work in a ride as listenable but otherwise not too sure....

At least a track or two where he's switched up his flow a bit now. Still ain't saying much/anything useful though. He gets some good beats though. His subject matter sounds like a 17 year olds to me for the most part. Haven't heard many story tracks or creative tracks? Far too much drug shyt to interest me too. Gets some nice beats though. Who produces for him?

There's no way in my opinion musically T.I can be king of the south on a music level with artists like Scarface, K-Rino and Z-Ro around. I get the violence shyt but it's a bit too much, even within a street context you can delve deeper. On some tracks he's got some good lyrics while never really getting to mind blowing level, solid though. I think he thinks he's better than he is also. He has some nice little sections in some songs lyrically and flow wise but don't feel it's consistent throughout most songs.

Getting through these albums now lol, feeling some of the beats a lot. Sounds like he was inspired a lot by Jay Z, Tupac and even Scarface, but only certain aspects of their them. The music is too dumb for me sometimes personally, sometimes feels too plain. Would like to get some of these instrumentals. Overall I feel his subject matter is horrible and boring for the most part.

Doesn't feel like real shyt to me, and doesn't feel great either, feels average. But the production on some tracks is mad nice. I don't believe that one dude tried to compare that Trap Muzik album to some of the artists I mentioned projects, not even close to me. But each to their own. Shame he doesn't seem to have more songs like the guy posted who I checked, if he did I feel he would be better. But that seems to be the exception rather than the rule. He isn't always the most vocally expressive and captivating to me either. If he had more songs like Live In The Sky etc I could feel him more. Sometimes even in his slightly more meaningful tracks he lyrically goes off track though.

To conclude I don't see how a true student of Hip Hop could have him in their top 20. But respect their right to their opinion.

Lol you're reachin with some of these but I pretty much agree

nikka said Obie Trice and Vinnie Paz...

Look, TIP is a top 50 emcee of all time and definitely top 10 past 2000 but he is kind of middle of the pack as far as post 2000 emcees go but his career success and overall catalogue puts him above a lot of cats that are specialist or have outright more skill than him. I can see a solid argument for top 30ish but beyond that he is competing with heavyweights and pioneers.

fukk a pioneer. Respect them as pioneers and leave it at that. James Naismith ain't a top 10 basketball player because he invented the game. Also lets be real aint but like probably 20 true "heavy hitters" in hip hop history. And as far as sales, longevity and skill it's probably only 10.
These are my heavyweights as far as impact, sales, longevity

1. 2Pac
2. Biggie
3. Nas
4. Rakim
5. Jay-Z
6. LL
7. Kane
8. Face
9. Cube
10. Snoop
11. Eminem
12. T.I.
13. Ludacris
14. KRS-One
15. Common (maybe)
16. Kanye is on the come up

That's barely a top 20. And his catalog is better than at least 6 of them

Lmao, you are a joke. You know nothing about Hip Hop with your statements, that's why you have T.i so high personally because you seem to only think there are 16 great rappers. Exposing yourself hard.

LOL@you naming groups.

LOL@you not knowing Face is Scarface.

LOL@you naming people who no one gives a fukk about, never sold shyt or had any impact. You can't be a heavyweight if you do neither. It don't matter how "lyrical" you are if nobody cares.

Raekwon has ONE great album full of guest.

G. Rap i'll give you.

Chuck D. as part of PE. but lets not pretend Flav wasn't the most popular member of the group.

What you mean lol at me naming groups? lol. Are they not rappers in the group? LMFAO at me not knowing Face is Scarface, be serious lol, skimmed it and didn't see Face, so that's my bad (if you didn't edit lol).

Are you serious LMFAO LMFAO LMFAO LMFAO.

Never sold shyt? Lauryn Hill? LMFAO LMFAO LMFAO. Really?

Chuck D WAS P.E, Flav was more of a hypeman.

Raekwon has two great albums and all the Wu shyt. 36 Chambers, Wu Tang Forever etc. Your disrespecting Hip Hop saying there only 16 great rappers.

No-one cares about OutKast now? Never sold no units no?

No-one cares about Proidgy of MOBB DEEP?

Big Pun never went double platinum or more no? No-one cares about Pun right?

Can't take you serious at the moment. You need to do your research before you start talking or make yourself look real ignorant.

Yall nikkas say Drake ain't hip hop because he sings, but you put Lauryn Hill singing as a better hip hop artist than T.I.. Yall nikkas is funny. Big Pun got 2 cds. His career lasted what 3 years? T.I. is 12 years about 8 albums deep. T.I. >>> Pun.

Nobody cares about Mobb Deep or Prodigy this ain't 2000. And you call T.I. boring. Prodigy got no flow a god awful voice and raps about stupid shyt.

And again I never said there were 16 Great rappers. Some of those people on that list I don't even consider good. But the statement was made about heavyweights, to be a heavyweight you need to do more than be "lyrical" and T.I. is an all-time great when you factor in sales, longevity, discography, etc.

Flav was P.E. to most people I knew. Everybody was on that Boooooyyeeeee. Big dumbass clocks because of flav.

I didn't say Drake wasn't Hip Hop cause he sings. Lauryn Hill raps and sings, I've never heard anyone say Lauryn Hill wasn't Hip Hop. Never heard of The Fugees? She rapped on Miseducation too, and on the Unplugged albums. Mystery Of Eniquity >>>> Drake's career. Plus I mentioned Z-Ro and he sings too, along with Bizzy Bone, they as Hip Hop as it comes. Biggie had 2 albums, just cause someone had just 2 cd's don't make them not great. You said no-one cares about the people I posted, people do care about Pun, he sold and is regarded as a legend. Your just talking for the sake of it. Ok if you like T.I more, all good, personally I believe Pun was much better in every category and I believe most Hip Hop heads will firmly agree with me. It ain't about if they care about them now. it's an all time list not a current list, are you actually saying NO-ONE cared about Mobb Deep ever? Prodigy got no flow lol.... You said heavy hitters which implies that. Flav was big, but Chuck was the heart, he was the political side and the one rhyming for the most part.

People care about everybody. The vast majority don't know and don't give a flying fukk about a K-Rhino, or Z-Ro. Pun was better than Biggie, but ain't nobody putting Pun as the goat are they? Why? He didn't have the impact Biggie had.

All thgese so called greats yet when everyone gets asked who are their 5 greatest rappers they name like the same 5-10 rappers.

And my list is off as I forgot Curtis Ratson & Lil Weezy.

It's difficult to make a list like that. I realized that I didn't have Common and Slick Rick listed.

Some people certainly put Pun as their G.O.A.T or top 10. T.i? How many REALLY put T.I as their G.O.A.T? Top 5 has 3 votes at the moment and 1 of those people said they voted that by accident lmao. 40 put him 30 or under. This ain't asking most impactful (Pun did have impact) it's asking about the greatest. Yeah they do, and in the LARGE majority of cases T.I ain't one of them.
