Hmm, I think the high majority of both men and women are going to have good-looking as one of their picks. Don't underestimate a women's want of having her guts blown out by a good looking dude....Especially these modern, post-feminist women that seem more likely than ever to rebel against traditional positive qualities in mates....
Hmm, well, I'd have to ask what you think is the difference between "book smarts" and "common sense" is....I often hear the distinction made but I personally don't think it's black and white like that.
To try and answer...I guess there are certainly different forms of "intelligence". I suppose that for me, at least in regards to "intelligent spouse"...I just mean general "sharpness" or "brightness". Someone that can write a letter that doesn't have grammatical or spelling errors. Someone that seems knowledgeable about different cultures and art. Or just someone that can use their smarts to better themselves or other people in some way. That sort of thing. Hillary Banks is like, my ideal version of a "Gorgeous, but dumb as rocks" girl....(But she *was* relatively stable until the Trevor incident).
I suppose that a good distinction can be found in Michael Scott's two main love interest on The Office.

Put the "good looking" category aside for a moment (I don't find either of them particularly noteworthy although Jan sometimes has her moments). Jan was intelligent....but completely emotionally unstable. She was a fukking wreck for a large portion of the show's run, even though she was typically portrayed as "smart" (At least as smart as an Office character could be). Holly on the other hand....about as dumb as Michael...but seemed relatively stable and mature....![]()
I think the difference is that "Book Smarts" is very educated with college, school, degrees and all of that. While "Common Sense" is just being able to think for yourself. You can have book smarts and have no real world knowledge I think, I'd take a chick that had common sense over anything. If you mean intelligence as in common sense I'd take Intelligence and Good Looking.
Especially these modern, post-feminist women that seem more likely than ever to rebel against traditional positive qualities in mates....
