Word, because the a&r is who i hear on my headphones :comeon:

If there is a solid in house producer, then singular...there just arent enough good producers to support an album. Swizz is an example; he makes good songs and hits...but ask cassidy if you want him to produce your whole album.

I dont think you fully understand how important a good a & r used to mean. If you notice the decline in album quality over the years from alot of these cats its because of the fact that alot of them just throw shyt together or do a collabo for the sake of it and there is often times no filter between the good and the garbage. Guys like Dante Ross arent around anymore or are only around in limited capacity to supervise to make sure that the shyt sounds like it goes together, or to remove or add songs/verses etc.

While some a & r's are dikkheads, the ones that knew hip hop have been responsible for some of the best albums ever. These days, rappers are often in charge of their own shyt which leads to alot of trashy albums.

This is just my opinion, take it for what it is.

A&R's are the ones who picks tracks and controls the direction of the album....

Even though you dont hear them, you hear the results of a rapper who needed an A&R on the scene

Dino Devaille did a lot of cash money stuff...He is the one that pops out...

Most labels had mainstays at A&R positions

I didnt need a music industry 100 lesson. The mc and the producer is easily more important than the a&r.

I could listen to Dante Ross talk for hours. An integral part of so many classics. Even though he's a scrub lol.

You have never made an album. I have produced 5, with 3 of them shelved, one i gave away for free and i have one indie deal that is being a & r'd as we speak by the label that signed my one off project.

Im going off that experience.

dude got really mad at me because i asked him about a comment he made about Kurious Jorge, i mean he followed me back and DMed me. But he was cool about it when i explained why, but still, dude always says how he feels. Alot of old vets dont like to be asked about shyt that the internet doesnt really know about.

Thats what i am basing my opinion on, and as you can see, others support that. Im not trying to throw my weight around, but you are sitting here from a perspective of someone who doesnt know what or who goes into making an album. Im speaking from experience.

A & Rs are VERY VERY important, a good one can make or break an album moreso than any mc or producer.

depends on the artist and the producer(s)

but in general i like one producer projects

This.

Somethn like the Blueprint got goin is what i'd prefer

2-3 handlin the bulk with a couple hit makers thrown in

Another good answer, as long as they all stick to a general theme.
