If not #1 its gotta to be #2 ....That whole little I-40 Corridor....Winston Salem to Raleigh = 6 HBCUs in 2 hour or less drive..

Although DMV, could arguably have the title with 5 in that region too...90 minutes or less

Atlanta area is in the conversation, w/ 4 in town and 1 or 2 2 hours away.

Houston area has 2

Dallas has 1 and down I-20 going east towards Louisiana has 4- 5 in some of those small towns, but that's 3 hours or so drive

New Orleans/Baton Rouge area has 3, 1 hour drive

VA Beach/Richmond/Elizabeth City, NC area has 5, maybe 2 hours or less

Nashville has 2

Alabama/Mississippi have a bunch but they are scattered all over the states

I would agree that it's a toss up between these two regions but to decide you need to consider the quality of the HBCUs instead of just the quantity.

If you want to go by quantity alone, Alabama has the most HBCUs out of any state, but NC enrolls the most HBCU students that are in undergrad.

don't forget SC. you have State, Clafin right next door, Voorhees about 30 min away, then Benedict and Allen both in Columbia bout 30 min away. .
