run dmc weren't considered king lyricists or anything. beastie boys didn't even write a lot of their stuff.

A lot of people in the rap game didn't write their own music to be honest. At least not a majority of it. Then again back in the 80's/90's a lot of acts were acts and not just someone saying they were a great rapper.
